      Horace Mann taxed my 403b 20% when sending my direct deposit. I am rolling it over within 60 days. It never should have been taxed in the first place. I want my balance that they taxed. It is the law and my option to roll it over to another financial institution within 60 days. Horace Mann makes it so difficult. Nothing was explained regarding taxing my 403b when they said they were going to send it to me via direct deposit.

      Pitiful. They don't answer emails. Terrible communication. I am 63 years old and was told I would get my 403b direct deposited. Nothing yet. No answers. Just crickets when I email. Total silence. So glad we took our money out of Horace Mann.

      I was involved in an accident that was not my fault and Horace Mann didn’t pay S**** **** a dime because they felt the same way. S**** **** is now coming after me for payment. It’s a long story, but my Horace Mann agent told me I should’ve lied to the police and that they were wiping their hands of the situation because the other driver was at fault. S**** **** has now sent me to collections. My agent referred me to an attorney THAT DOESNT EVEN PRACTICE THAT TYPE OF LAW! Horace Mann abandoned me and sent me in the wrong direction. I have been a loyal client throughout the years but that doesn’t seem to matter to them. Backstabbing and dishonesty galore in S**** **** and Horace Mann. Insurance companies are corrupt as they come. I’m leaving Horace Mann and telling all my family to do the same. They don’t care about their clients, only the $$$.

      Worse insurance company I ever had. I had to file a claim and they went around the world trying to get out of it. So I just finally just told them to forget it, and withdrew the claim. If you file a claim good luck getting your house fixed or car or anything else.

      I'be had coverage with this company for decades. I was one of those teachers held as a captive audience after a long day at school I der pressure to buy a policy. Today, they have become the worst disappointment in my life. Taking advantage of teachers and then ripping them off is sickening. My car had a water leak ad a result of an accident and Horace Mann refused to pay, saying the damage was caused by the water from the weather. The adjuster approved the claim, I got a rental, my car was taken to the shop of their choice, and the next afternoon they called to deny the claim. I had to pay everything out of pocket. I'm living on social security now and this is the last thing I need. Thanks, Horace Mann

      If I could have given them a no star I would have. I have been with them for almost 40 years and finally made a claim on a leaking metal roof on my house that was installed 30 years ago. Their adjuster Gerry M******* had the audacity to say the roof was installed wrong. So for 30 years it didn't leak but was installed wrong. I recommend everyone bypass this company for a legit insurance company. NO CLASS !!!!

      They do not pay for factory replacement parts only cheap aftermarket parts. 2014 Jeep Wrangler front end damage. Factory replacement fender price $915. Aftermarket fender approved by Horace Mann $121.50. This fender very cheaply made and did not fit. I paid $ 4,000 out of pocket for all the parts plus $1,000 deductible to repair my vehicle with the correctly. But it’s not me who will have the final judgment on you Horace Mann Company

      If I could give this Insurance a negative 5 star I would without hesitation. They’re insured hit our vehicle, the driver was 100% at fault and almost 8 months later we are still trying to settle. Then again when the adjuster doesn’t believe in returning calls or replying to emails what I one expect. I’ve dealt with several insurances and this has been the worst experience ever. Take my word. Go find another insurance to deal with. One that actually cares to deal in a professional manner. Not trying to rip you off.

      From the beginning, I loved Horace Mann's insurance. It was cheaper and easier to use than my old company. That all changed a few days ago. I have automatic withdrawal to pay my bill. This month I noticed that the money was still sitting in my account. Weird, but they have taken it out late before and there was no way I was going to pay it and then have them take it out and "double-dip". They had done it before and it was a mess. Anyway, I received a letter on Saturday 2/24/24. It says it was sent out on 2/16/24 and that I had not paid my premium. Okay, some context here my bill is due on the 15 of every month. The letter stated that if I did not have it paid by 12:01 am on 2/14/24 it would be cancelled. #1 How can you cancel it when it isn't due until the 15th? #2 You sent this letter out on the 16th. #3 I didn't get it until the 24th. It then goes on to say that if it is not paid by the 26th it will be cancelled completely. So I message my agent, and he says he will look into it and get back to me. Well, Monday comes around and he says that he inquired and was told that my bank declined the payment. Now the only way that happened is if they did it before 7 am because my paycheck hits at 7:01 am. Okay, fine I'll go pay it. At 3:15 pm I call to pay my bill. I have been told that as of 12:01 am, I am no longer insured and it will now be $737 a month because I lapsed. Why did no one call me when the card was declined? Why did no one email me when the card was declined? No, they sent out a letter a day after it was due. Even my agent said they were supposed to inform him and they didn't. I have never been so livid in my whole life. They are out to screw you over as much as possible. Stear clear of them. Everyone at my school will be hearing about this incident and I am sure a lot of my fellow staff will be switching (which by the way, I found insurance for $100 a month cheaper than them).
