    Advertising Review:

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On 8/03/2022, BBB contacted the business regarding their advertised products on their website. The business advertised an ongoing sale for all the products listed on the website. A time limit for sales must be observed as required by BBB’s Code of Advertising.

The business advertised the following product on their website:

Life Fitness Club Series + Recumbent Lifecycle [ LFCRP00002]

    Lowest Price Quote Guaranteed.

    Call Now (800) 431-9689 or (847) 441-8440

    Price: $4,135.00

    SALE Price: $3,799.00

The BBB Code of Advertising States:

    1. Basic Principles of the Code

1.1 The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made before publication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or BBB.

1.2 Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used.

1.3 An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true.

1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.

    9. Sales

9.1 The unqualified term “sale” may be used in advertising only if there is a significant reduction from the advertiser's usual and customary price of the products or services offered and the sale is for a limited period of time. If the sale exceeds thirty (30) days, advertisers should be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid price reduction and has not become their regular price.

9.2 Time limit sales must be observed.

9.2.1 For example, products or services offered in a “one-day sale,” “three-day sale” or “this week only sale” should, as a general rule, be taken off “sale” and revert to the regular price immediately following expiration of the stated time.

9.3 Introductory sales must be limited to a stated time period, and the selling price should, as a general rule, be increased to the advertised regular price immediately following termination of the stated period.

9.4 Advertisers may currently advertise future increases in their own prices on a subsequent date provided that they do, in fact, increase the price to the stated amount on that date and maintain it for a reasonably substantial period of time thereafter.

9.5 If the advertiser, in good faith, decides at the end of the sale period to convert its sale price to a new regular price, it may do so if it no longer claims any savings.

9.6 The advertiser, in good faith, may decide to extend a time limit or introductory sale for a stated period. However, if that extension is for more than a short period of time, the advertiser must be prepared to substantiate that the offering is still a valid price reduction and has not become its regular price.

On 10/26/2022 the BBB spoke with the business regarding the website and how to make the corrections. As of 2/13/2023, the business has made corrections to their website, and is compliant with the BBB code of advertising.

I received an elliptical on 21 Nov 22 and it was damaged. I informed Fitness Warehouse the same day and several attempts were made to repair the machine but no success. Since March 2023 I've been trying to get my refund of $3000 from them and their excuse is they can't find a pallet for the machine to be shipped back to them. I also sent the company contact information of companies who make pallets in my local area on 25 Jul 23 and I have not heard from them at all. I called today 5 Sep 23 and *********************** up on me. They are very unprofessional and are refusing to refund my money. They do not care about the stress they are causing their customer. The machine is taking up space in my garage because it is useless. $3000 may not be a lot for some but that is a lot of money to give a company with not outcome. I should not have to seek help from BBB or a lawyer to get a refund do to defective equipment. I have given them ample time to resolve this issue. In 77 days it will be a year I have had the broken machine and no refund.

My experience with Fitness Warehouse, ********, ** is the worst experience I have had with any company in my 36 years of life so far. I purchased an item I believed was in stock and available, ready to be delivered as soon as possible. I was contacted by the company and told the item would be on its way in a week. What ended up occurring was the company strung me along for many weeks, holding my money and stating that my item would be dispatched imminently. Months ended up passing before I became extremely alarmed at being lied to regarding dispatch dates and it became apparent through contacting the company that they never had the item in stock. Therefore it appears they are running some kind of dropshipping operation, or selling items which they do not have in stuck and are yet to source but not being up front with their customers. I urge you to avoid doing business with this company at all costs and to read the experiences others have had, particularly the reviews on ****** as many people seem to have had extremely negative experiences with this company.
