We ordered a garage and paid a deposit back in April of 2021. We were told the garage would be delivered ten weeks from when our foundation was completed. We removed our carports and had the foundation completed in July of 2021. The garage was due September 21, 2021. We have called every month since then and have been told it will be installed by the end of the month or beginning of the next. This has been every month since September that were told we would have the garage by the next month. Today we were told they did not even start production of our garage and won’t start it until they can schedule an install date. They appear to have no intentions of scheduling the instal in the near foreseeable future. This has prevented me from completing projects I have on hold that were supposed to help provide income for me and my family. This is also causing our vehicles to remain exposed to the weather due to the removal of our carports with the understanding that a garage would be installed before winter. Our neighbors had the same issue with this company and received their garage a few months ago after repeatedly calling to complain. I advised the supervisor today that we would be filing a complaint. Our next step will be to contact a lawyer if we are unable to get our garage installed scheduled.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: they are just looking into it it’s not hard to see they took my deposit and have not provided any services.  All I’m asking for is my money back a year and a half on a building is crazy to wait for. I get supply issues but if they can’t provide it be honest with people and refund their deposits.

      Sincerely,
      ******* *********

I contracted with this company in July 2021. They had Complex Steel Buildings prepare it and was installed September 2, 2021. The first substantial rain had water coming under ALL the walls. I contacted ****** ******* and **** ****** and they both suggested caulking the floor to wall joint because there may be unleveled places that caused this. It was caulked and the next rain in December water poured in the windows and underneath side door entrance. There’s no mastic installed between windows and frame and nothing underneath the door. I’m assuming there should have been something between walls and foundation as well since it leaked again under every wall. I emailed them again requesting an appointment for someone to come inspect and they ignored me . Today I emailed again and **** responded call the office. I replied, who do I speak to and again no response.

If the concrete that was installed by your concrete contractor is not perfectly level then the base rail anchored on the concrete pad can have water intrude under. In which case, a sealant should be used in any area that the concrete is attached to the building in order to prevent leaking. Please send pictures of the window. Thank you

The concrete pad is perfectly leveled and we also used sealant all the way around and it leaked from every inch of the wall during the last big rainstorm.

Ordered a garage on 5/3/2021, was initially told they were 4- 8 weeks out. I put $1129.50 down, and then was handed off to *** ***** ******** in Dobson, NC! I had to call and request design specs in order to get a building permit. Was told by Big Buildings Direct that there only purpose in this transaction was to get the contract and the deposit, all further dealings with be with Tri State. Called and received the specs, obtained a building permit 6/22/21. Called on 7/2/21 to ask when my garage would be installed, no ETA could be given because they were "running behind." Was call by ****** on 8/4 at 10:34 a.m. asking if the ground was ready for the garage. I acknowledged and asked when. She stated there's no date but she had to ensure the ground was prepared before she could put me on the schedule. I called on 8/25, talked to *****, again told no ETA because she had to adjust all the prices on the bills because of cost increases and she manages 7 states so it will be a while. She also stated my price would not be affected. Called Big Buildings Direct about just cancelling because I was sick of no customer service, no attempt to communication by the business and what I felt was default on contract because I did nhave a garage. ******* at Big Buildings Direct told me I signed a contract and in that contract it stated the only reason I can cancel and get my deposit back was either if it was within the first 48 hours or for some reason I could not obtain a building permit, however he did forward me the cancellation request document but re-stated that I would not get my deposit back. 11/2/21 I called *** ***** ******** and ***** stated this is no date but it would be in November. Called 11/29 at 11:45 and asked for a date and she stated she would call at the end of the week with a specific date. Here it is 12/16 and no date and no garage.

We spoke to Tri-State and they were supposed to get her on the schedule.  We sent the consumer an email with the update.  They had only started installing in Iowa recently due to weather.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

As stated below I received an email from Big Buildings Direct on Monday, May 9th, 2022 stating that my building is scheduled to be delivered and installed next week (the week of 15-20 May).  They also stated that the installers (Tri State Carport) would be reaching out to me the week of May 9 - 13 to confirm information and installation date.  I was never contacted last week.  I ended up contacting Tri-State directly on Friday, May 13th.  They stated that I was on the schedule for next week and they will contact me either later that day (May 13th) or Monday (May 16) to confirm dates.  Here is it May 18th and still no one has contacted me.  I emailed Big Buildings Direct and have no resolution. Background:  Contacted Big Buildings Direct on April 28th, 2021, called back May 3rd, 2021 and placed the required deposit.  Was told they were out 8 - 10 weeks and the installer would be contacting me.  They never did. I also was not provided with blue prints to obtained my building permit.  Finally received the drawings and obtained my building permit in June, 2021 and notified Big Buildings Direct and Tri-State. Since then I have never been contacted by Big Buildings Direct nor Tri-State, I have had to repeatedly call and email them to get a status on my garage. I have phone logs of 9 calls I have made to both and also emails, but still, a year and two weeks later I still have no garage. I requested to cancel my contract in December and was forwarded the cancellation document but was reminded that I could only cancel and get a refund within the first 2 days or if I was denied a building permit. Excuses provided over the last year were "crew availability" and waiting on materials.  I'm sorry, but if a customer signed a contract and put a cash deposit down, why (in December 2021) are they "awaiting materials?" Shouldn't they already have had that ordered since I signed the contract and paid the monetary deposit? I have been given 6 different generic installation dates, i.e. "by the end of the month," "next few weeks," "when the weather clears."  Granted, I live in Iowa, but the weather has been good for 2-3 months now for someone to erect a building. Again, respectively request a refund of my deposit so I can actually get a garage built. **** ***** ********** ***** ****

My husband, **** ****, contracted and paid a deposit for a barn to Big Buildings Direct in April 2021. We completed the pad/permits to support the specific barn that we contracted for at an added expense of 30,000. have been strung along regarding the installation. The company claimed COVID impacted the materials. The barn was supposed to be completed by this time. We have asked for a date that the barn will be scheduled for install. We will now be heading into winter and my horses have been boarded at additional expense. They will not return calls, or provide details about an install date.

      Business response

      10/18/2021

Thanks for letting us be aware of this issue with scheduling.   Lead times do not start from the time the deposit is placed but when the land is ready for delivery and call into scheduler.  Now some of these times have been longer the usual because of material shortages caused by covid.  We will work with the customer to see if we can find a quicker delivery date or another installer that can get to the project quicker.  Thanks again

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because my barn has not been installed as promised.

Negotiations started on 2/23/21 with your representative, ****** *****, regarding the designing of our barn. On 3/8/21, contract was signed. Mr. ***** stated that he would be working with us from “start to finish”.  In May of 2021, Mr. ***** requested a picture of the completed foundation and that he was waiting for the scheduler to contact us. The photograph was provided to Mr. ***** as requested. Mr. ***** stated that the scheduler, *********, at ************ * *** would notify Mr. **** of when the barn was placed on the schedule. There have been multiple efforts since July 12, 2021 to contact ********* to obtain updates on the barn installation. There has been no response from ********* regarding the requests for the installation date.

****** ***** notified Mr. **** in July to report that there was no material available for the gauge 12 supports for the barn. He also reported that he had another manufacturer that could install the building by October 2021 if we agreed to downgrade to the 14 gauge supports. We agreed to modification. At that point we were handed off to Rini Perez at Universal Metal Buildings that confirmed that they could have the building installed by the first part of October 2021. After outreach attempts with Rini, her scheduler stated that they are behind due to weather. We currently do not have an installation date and request that the barn is installed based on the timelines provided. Currently, my horses are being boarded which adds significantly to the expense of this debacle.

      Sincerely,

      *** ****
