My daughter and I purchased 2 Japanese Chin puppies from this breeder. Within 12 hours one of the puppies became very ill with vomiting and diarrhea. By 24 hour both puppies were very ill...took them to the emergency vet and both have parvo. ******* refused to give us our money back or help with treatment which cost between $5000 - $10,000 per puppy. Now we are out all that money and the puppies may not survive..When we contacted her she said it was a false positive test even though they had all the signs and symptoms of parvo. She even wanted to take over making decisions about their care when she sent us the sick puppies. So inappropriate....

This client was given free health insurance that would have covered all the costs associated with any illness the puppies may have contracted. They did not apply for the insurance as instructed. The client refused to allow me or my vet to speak to the doctor taking care of the puppies. I was not given any updates that the puppies were sick until the client called demanding payment. I told the client that it was unlikely the puppies had parvo as they were just vaccinated which can show a false positive. Without speaking to a vet or allowing my vet to speak to their vet there was no way to make an educated decision about the care of the puppies. This complaint was filed before any decision about the puppies health can be determined and without any documentation being provided to my vet. Per the contract this is how refund would be determined. Also I offered to pay the clinic where the puppies were being treated directly but the client refused to allow me to have me put on the list to be able to speak to the clinic about the puppies care.

    sincerely,

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:

First of all she was messaged on the afternoon on the day we got them that one puppy was not eating and not doing well.  No once did she say we needed to get the insurance going within 24 hours.  We did not even get the puppies until 3 am on Sunday morning.

Our vet declined to speak to her because of her attitude towards the puppy's illness.  She only offered to pay $500 for the care of the puppies when the estimate is between $5-10,000 each and demanded that she be allowed to make decisions about the care of the puppies.  We refused that offer since she sent ill puppies.  We ask for her vet's information and a copy of their examination that supposedly was done prior to shipping of the puppies.  She refused.

She has been very difficult to communicate with and wanted to ship ill puppies back to her so she can care for them.

Responsible breeders will try to make this right and she has not.  Even said our vet did not know what they were talking about.

Unfortunately, she is doing all she can to save herself money.  This event has put our family in financial hardship for an event that should have never happened.  It is not the puppies fault that she has Parvo at her kennel.  While we ask for help from her covering this expense, we are more worried about her continuing to sell sick puppies so she can make a buck.  We do not want other families to go through the mental and financial burden that we are going through.

I will go to any agency that is needed to stop her from doing this, up to filing a lawsuit against her.  My vet will even testify and provide the information needed regarding the puppies health.
