I borrowed from One Main to buy a car but 2 months later an older lady struck me. The value of the vechicle was $9000 which is $400 less than what I owed them for the car. When I tried to retain my vechicle, the lady’s insurance offered $7000. One Main Financial refused the $7000 bcz they said I would still owe on the vechicle and they couldn’t release a lien without payment. But really they were being greedy and wanted the whole $9000. I was left with a balance of $400 and no vechicle. I cancelled my warranty which would owe me $1,300. GWC sent the check to the dealer and instead of calling me to cut the check, he sent the check to One Main financial. They received my check in May. When I called in May, they told me I would receive the difference after paying my $400 balance. They told me I would receive my check by July 17, 2024 and to call if I didn’t. When I called them on the 18th, they said that their policy is to hold any overage for 15 days to make sure there are not any returns(unpaid balances). They recorded the check clearing one July 1st so that means 15 days would be July 19th. So they haven’t even sent my check yet and I feel like they do this to ppl on purpose. As I’ve explained, I owed them $400 and have proof. Yet they refuse to release my money. And every time I call them they have a different excuse. I expected it on the 17th and now they say they will send on the 19th. I used my car to Uber and get to work. This really took a toll on me mentally and financially. I had just put a down in January for this car. I want everyone to understand how they operate and they don’t care about anything but their money. It doesn’t even feel like a business transaction but more like being robbed. It would of took me 3 yrs to pay the car off. I get hit and all of the sudden they want all their money and they didn’t let me keep my car for the $7000 and let me finish paying.

Customer focus interface. They had a process that you could follow and document all along the way. Best practice was everything is online to the end. If the zoom that piece and lower their rates, they would be a 10. I was grateful for the fresh start.
