    My fiance and I hired Dauss for our photographer back in November 2023. He was recommended by a friend of mine who spoke very highly of him. Unfortunately, we did not have the greatest experience with him. First off, he was TERRIBLE at communication. When we hired him, he told us that he would get back to us on when we could do our engagement photos. Several days went by and I had reached out three times in a period of 2 weeks. His "assistant" had finally gotten back to me, saying she had meant to get back but forgot, saying that he was overseas and shooting for a campaign. I let it go and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. We ended up scheduling our engagement session and it ended up getting canceled because he felt under the weather. We rescheduled to the following weekend. I texted him the morning of our rescheduled photoshoot and his "wife" responded, saying that he was terribly sick and bed ridden. She said that he can gift us a free framed photo of our favorite picture to make up for the cancellation. I thought that was weird that his "wife" was texting me. And if he was that sick why wasn't he in the hospital? A week and a half go by and we still don't hear from him, so I took the initiative to reach out. We finally schedule something for mid-January. The night before our scheduled shoot I text him, confirming the time, and don't hear anything until the next morning. He texted me that he was supposed to be on a flight back to Indy that had gotten cancelled and won't be able to make it. That was all he said, no offer to reschedule or anything. I thought this was very unprofessional and my fiance and I did a background check on him and found all these small claims against him and other terrible reviews. We fired him and had to push to get our money back. He said he normally didn't get refunds, which made no sense since he didn't do anything for us. We threatened legal action and he eventually gave it back to us.
