************ experienced storms and high winds in early July. On Sunday, July 2, a vehicle pulled up to our house and a man rang the doorbell to offer free estimates on cutting down two dead trees in our front yard (one ash and one maple). He (****) and his partner (*****) spent about **** minutes looking at the trees and writing up a proposal and reviewing it with me. He dropped the price from $1,800 to $1,300 and that included cutting down 2 trees in the front plus 3 small trees in the back, leaving ***** inch pieces for us that we will use as firewood, hauling away all other debris, and we agreed on an extra $400 to grind all five stumps at least 18 inches down and leave the mulch. They asked for a $300 deposit check that would go toward the final bill. I thought about it and talked that night with my husband abut it we also thought we looked them up online to check for good reviews, but now I realize I was looking at good reviews for a similar company (Angels Tree Removal instead of Angels Tree Service). We signed the proposal and they were back Wednesday morning around 11 am to start the work (4 total men that day). They got started cutting down the trees and worked for about 2 hours before **** said they needed a lunch break and needed to pay their guys upfront because **** (who was climbing the trees) was almost done and lived in Greenfield so they needed his cash. I feel so STUPID for trusting them, but I DID trust them at the time, and I had a baby who was ready for a nap so I was frazzledI wrote them the check for the full amount and they havent been back since. Our yard is a mess because they left in the middle of the job debris is everywhere, the trees are halfway cut down, no stumps have been groundits a mess. Neighbors have been stopping to ask if the storms hit our house or what happened. I have photos of the situation to date. I wanted them to just finish the job, but at this point, I want nothing more to do with them.
