1 starMy 93 year old father was admitted with dementia and combative behavior. When he entered this facility he could walk, talk ,feed himself and make his needs known. He left in a near vegetative state. I transfered him to the emergency room at ***************. He was dehydrated with critical sodium levels. The Medical Behavior Hospital was trying to rehydrate him with subcutaneous normal saline. Was told by the ER doctor that this was only done in third world countries. They did not notify me, his POA, that his condition had changed. They do not return calls and don't answer the phone. When I went to visit, the visiting room was filthy. I have been trying for three months to get his medical records. They will not turn them over. My father died 2 days after getting him out of there. I do not know how this place is still on business. I have filed a complaint with ********************************** and the **********************. This place needs to be shut down!Review fromCarla M

1 starNeuropsychiatric Hospital of Indianapolis is a terrible place for patients and families who are dealing with mental illness. If there was a 0-rating I would give it. My nephew was in this terrible place for 12days and he was never seen by the social worker, *******, never had a one-to-one talk to ********, the psychologist and probably was never seen by a physician. He was heavily doped up from medications ordered by the *****, nurse practitioner to the point that one day he was somnolent with shallow breathing and barely able to open his eyes. I saw him 4days a week and his mother was present 7days a week with absolutely no communication from *******, social worker and only by chance we (mom and myself) happened to run into ********, psychologist and she informed us that my nephew only said "hi" to her and that was it. She stated she had 50patients and she tried to see her patients at least one time a week. The thing that really is troublesome is that *******, the social worker who never spoke with my nephew's mom only called to state that he was going to be discharged to a homeless shelter, not to his parents' home the day before of his scheduled discharge. This place sends for an Uber and places folk with a mental illness straight to a homeless shelter. It doesn't make sense. ******, supervisor halted this discharge but after ****** was off of work, ******* swooped in and once again, without discussing anything with his parents, decided to discharge him to a homeless shelter. If they are doing this with people who have family present daily, it makes me wonder what they are doing to people who don't have an advocate fighting for them. This place is a joke, and the patients are left to suffer. I had no problems with the nursing staff. Everything that I asked was provided but the providers were horrible. The providers probably only prescribe medication and never assess the patients. ********, ******* and ***** should be ashamed of themselves. They may be doing harm.Review fromJulie G

1 starThey don't tell you anything about what's happening. I waited 3 hours for my room and then had to ask only to be told that it was ready and where it was. Food was adequate but often served cold. Only drink was KoolAid at lunch and dinner - why could water not be served? The staff was noisy and often yelled at each other and at patients. Some patients did not appear to be cared for (left on floor, dirty underwear, etc).Review fromTonya S

1 starI was a patient 06/09/23-/06/22/23. I was being "treated" for depression but as a result became more depressed. The windows are covered , patients aren't let outside no sunshine or fresh air , groups don't run and when there are groups they are coloring and playing games. Towards the end after complaining to every higher up I ran into ,the last 4 days I was there groups started running . I wasn't able to shower because there was no available clean clothes for 7 of the 13 days I was there and the *** would shout if you don't have your own clothes you can't shower or recommend I put the same dirty clothes back on . Most ***'s were disrespectful and never attempted to deescalate high stress situations. HIPPA laws were broken because ***'s were often talking on their phones in patient rooms and in the day room . It really felt like I was in a horror movie. The doctor ************************* is a fraud , he went to prison in **** in ************* for ******** fraud. He was a very strange man and if you're reading this ******* , know you're going to get your karma . If you search this it's public information. My insurance was charged $32,500 and luckily denied, I will be following up in making sure ******** and ******** continue to deny claims . It seems like the hospital doesn't even contact insurance until after a patient is discharged . Neuropsychiatric hospital of Indianapolis in ******* does not care about their patients, they only care about the insurance payments. There is an article that requires payment to view ,but there is information in it about a whistleblower lawsuit in 2016 a nurse practitioner filed against the hospital for everything that you see o the BBB reports in the article the nurse practitioner reports that nurse practitioners were instructed to keep patients up to 14 days because that's the money maker , I was there 13 days .Review fromLori K

1 starMy spouse went there on may 12, 2023, returned home on June 9, 2023, had lost 25 lbs, dirty, dehydrated, and less than 2 months after coming home he's now deceased! Don't send anyone you love to this terrible place, it may result in a death like my spouse, he was also verbally and physically abused in their care, left unattended and had fell and laid on floor for a long while before found, highly inexcusableReview fromSharon C

1 starI just quit this job on 8/3/23 because of how they treat the employees and how they treat the patients here. I've seen patients been refused water when they ask, I seen them been refused to use the phone when they want to call family. I seen Patients sitting in their urine and fecies for long periods of time. Sometimes the facility runs out of shower gel and patients go without showers for weeks unless a nurse decides to buy some from the dollar tree down the street. They have woman on the same side as men who be exposing themselves, lately they been having maybe one aide to a floor. Some of the staff uses bad language to the patients. They have family and friends working their and treat them differently from other employees. When you report things or have a complaint about something the Hr Gemini will start to pick with you. Most of the time they forget to tell the patients dinner is ready or breakfast if they sleep don't even bother waking them up. The food is terrible so the patients usually only eat snacks. When they know state is coming they try to hurry and get things in order and hide things in the back room which state doesn't know about. I believe they think it's a closest, but it's a whole other area soon as you walk in the front door. It's a office area way in the back. This place is shameful and ridiculous. All they do is give them meds, and coloring books. If a patient is in there for depression why do they allow them to sleep all day in a dark room.. I don't recommend this place to anyone.Review fromLori S

1 starForced to give one star to this nightmare of a hospital(?) where the insane are running the place. You can only have limited visitation with your loved ones and it is easy to see why. They do not want you to see what is going on behind the doors of this facility. It is almost impossible to reach anyone to speak to about a patient. When you do speak to someone they seem to talk in riddles and you get no answers. We were promised a meeting with all members of the staff treating my brother, but only the ** showed up and one other person on speaker phone. No answers given. When patient discharged there was no education done and no discharge information. Patient was simply sent out the door. Once patient discharged he described a place that I thought only existed in horror films. Patient was terrified while in this facility and stated he and other patients were constantly subjected to being cursed out and called mother f***ers, among other things. Patients left lying on floors with people just walking over them. No activities and nothing to read. TV turned on at discretion of the staff. Patient states he is terrified that place like this exists and fears going back there.
