    I hired Gilmore Builders LLC to build a fence for my parents property. There was many missed communications, he was insistent that I pay most up front, and I've now paid $3,335 out of the $3,500 he quoted me. He was supposed to have the fence done at latest March 17th 2024, and has not replied to my texts since Tuesday March 12th 2024. I do not have the financial ability to take this company to court, but I need people to be aware of this.

    Our son hired Gilmore Builders to enclose a patio that the job was just beginning. We needed a ramp put on our deck due to some medical issues so we asked Gilmore for a quote. He was really nice and gave us a quote that was agreeable. He sent a contract and we used Afterpay to spread payments out over 12 months. That’s when things started going south. They screwed up my son’s concrete and kept making excuses. My son’s wife’s parents had even given him $2,500 up front for their deck. They tried to cancel and get their money back but he told them no, that he already bought the supplies but could not show a receipt. Contractor told my son he would leave his job and cancel any jobs associated with his (mine and my son’s wife parents). We texted him asking him to cancel our contract, he said he wouldn’t, that he would show up May 1st to do the job regardless of what we say. We are almost 2 weeks away and he said he already thought the supplies but cannot produce a reciept. So he has taken the $4,000 Afterpay sent him for ours. The $2,500 from my sons in-laws and my son had another contractor come out and Gilmore Builders never pulled a permit. Concrete will be another $1,000 to fix. Just a total nightmare. He said according to our contract we cannot cancel job but I have attached the contract that doesn’t say that and some pictures of texts.

    I understand your concerns regarding the work performed. I want to assure you that the quality of my work is of utmost importance to me, and I am committed to ensuring your satisfaction.

    As you recall, the initial agreement was to complete the job for less than $1,000, which was accomplished within the constraints of the budget. Unfortunately, the unforeseen incident with the wind causing damage to the roof was beyond our control. I was prepared to address this issue promptly; however, I was not granted the opportunity to rectify the situation.

    I am still willing to come and fix the roof at your earliest convenience. My goal is to resolve this matter to your satisfaction and to uphold the standard of work you expect.

    Please let me know a suitable time for you when you get the funds together and I will make the necessary arrangements.

    In Jan 2024 the business owner agreed to replace leaking skylights in 2 bathrooms for $2200. A 1-year guarantee was offered for this work. The master bath skylight is now leaking (mid-March 2024). I have contacted the business owner several times via text and have scheduled appointments on 3 occasions. He doesn't show up nor does he provide any further communication. In Feb 2024 I asked the business owner to provide a quote for painting, trim replacement & interior repair for the water damage. He quoted me $500 (paid by check). The business owner showed up at my home in the evening hours in mid-Feb to tell me he had a medical emergency with his girlfriend and needed to reschedule. At that time, he left his miter saw at my home, stating he would return in a few days to complete the job. He texted me on Feb 22, asking if he could complete the repairs that day. I had several contractors and their equipment on-site for a new home and had to decline. He has scheduled several appointments with me, yet doesn't show up or contact me to update me. One of the last contacts stated he was on his way, yet never made it. When I confront him on these problems, I'm told several different excuses: flat tire, I live too far away, my check didn't clear (I've proven it did), he doesn't accept checks (he did), the damage is not his responsibility, etc. Last night, I received a 6:30 p.m. text from him, requesting an appointment to assess skylight leakage, however, there is no mention of the interior work that remains incomplete. I didn't respond. I no longer trust the quality of his work. Business practice research identified that he is advertising under a fictitious contractor's license and he has a known history of shoddy work practices. ****************************************************************************************************
