Work was started by ********************* (MLB Renovations)in late October (10/26?) and stopped on 11/4/22. Plan was to replace roof, repair porch.Roof was completed and work was started on the porch. Work on porch was very shoddy. The ceiling was bowed with gaps between panels, hammer marks on new posts, rotten boards were not been replaced, "trim" was rough sawn strips of plywood. I requested work stop on the porch because I didn't like how it looked, at all. Work was stopped and **** asked for the remainder of the agreed on price, less $500, which I paid. I had a different contractor finish the porch. He commented that he saw several things wrong with the new roof, recommended having it inspected which I then had done. Inspection showed that the roof had no starter strips except on one edge. Several tar strips are exposed, multiple exposed nails. Field shingles were used instead of cap so no ventilation. There are cut/damaged shingles where roofers didn't protect newly installed shingles when they were cutting other shingles. There are loose shingles. No sealant around skylights as agreed. Rubber boot around chimney instead of appropriate metal. Gaps, uneven rows, and more. In addition, yard was left a mess. I picked up a large garbage can full of old shingles, tar paper, fast food trash, pop and water bottles, cigarettes, and I am still picking up nails. **** said they would run a magnet around the house to get nails. I never saw this done except for day 1 when they had a guy doing clean up (he got into it with **** and quit). I am not a hard to please person. My house isn't fancy but I am trying hard to fix it up. I didn't need a setback like this. I feel like the roofers knew this 68 year old woman with bad knees wouldn't be up on the roof and wouldn't see how awful it is. It's already leaking. The inspector told me it would cost more to repair than replace. I need money back ($8046) so it can be done correctly. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
