Don't buy from these people - you will lose money, time, and patience. They delayed delivery twice. I ordered 2 companion plants that need each other to pollinate - they sent me one plant at the end of the season and I guess tough luck on the companion plant - now it is out of stock and unavailable. I was charged the full delivery fee. I called them to say I was unhappy with the service and their shipping practices, the operator ignored what I was saying and started giving me planting instructions. Then the operator tells me that the variety I received, ******** does not bear fruit - only ******** does, so I will need to pre-order the 2nd plant in the fall (you know, the companion plant I ordered that they did not send, the one their catalog expressly states bears lots of fruit - so which is it). They don't do refunds; don't let you know when essential 2nd plant is totally unavailable until they have already shipped the one they say will not fruit; sent a plant that will never fruit (a twiglet with munched leaves) and then suggest you reorder with them in the fall - when you get to cough up an additional $19 in shipping. Would never even consider ordering from this outfit again.Gurney's

Placed an order for 36 sweet potato slips on May 27th to my address in central Kentucky. Got a notification that it shipped on June 1st from Tennessee, expected delivery date of June 8th. For 7 days in a box, shipping cost of $12.99, seems unreasonable & I was unhappy with that to begin with. On June 5th, the tracking # showed that my package was now in Indianapolis ??. On June 8th, the tracking info updated to say "No scheduled delivery date available at this time". So on June 10th, no tracking changes, I called the customer service #, an Ohio #, expecting to speak with someone in Ohio, but it quickly became apparent that it was some foreign call center & that I could barely understand their english. They were trying their best, not that person's fault, but I expected better somehow from a nursery business like Gurney's. After a long conversation that I struggled to understand, the call agent agreed that after 9/10 days in a box & still far away from my home, there was no way these plants were arriving in good condition, but that unfortunately they were sold out of all sweet potatoes now. After this call agent tried to convince me to accept a store credit 3 times, they finally relented to my demand for a full refund on my credit card. At this point in the season, it's too late to start my own slips, I was unable to locate any reasonable replacements from amywhere, & I'm quite dissapointed & will probably never again trust Gurney's Nursery.Gurney's

This company is so bad and I feel their service needs to be reported. I ordered and lost $64.92 worth of 3 different varieties of tomato plants on 2/22/2022. On May the 4th, 2022 , I received my order and all but 3 plants were dead, with the remaining 3 near death and I tried to bring them back to life but they also died. The next day I contacted gurneys and gave them that information and they decided to only reship the 1 tomato variety and told me the ship date would be 5/9/2022. It would be almost a month later, June the 6th before they would decide to reship them out and as of this date of June the 11th, they are still pending in shipment and I'm certain they are dead as well as they won't live stranded in shipping like that for 5+ days. Be careful if you order from gurneys is they are very unreliable, negligent, and unresponsive, and their shipping and packing methods have failed me, I have lost everything from my original order and feel like I am owed the total amount of $64.92 for having NOTHING survive from my original order.Gurney's

Thank you for your feedback, I located your email and chat and the only the Brandywine Tomatoes were mentioned as arriving dead which is why they were the only ones that were reshipped. You did provide pictures of the Brandywine tomatoes and I understand your frustration. As a one time courtesy, I have refunded you for your order, please allow 3-5 days for processing.Review fromD. I am adding Gurney's to the list of nurseries I will never again do business with. On April 29 I ordered over $80 worth of fruits and vegetables (strawberries, tomatoes, peppers of various kinds and a couple of textile planting bags. The strawberries and bags came without problem. But the most recent order, containing some of the remaining items noted that various items were not available. When I called the support number, which goes to an overseas call center where the staff can barely do anything outside of reading off a script, I asked about getting a refund. They could barely understand what I meant. After waiting for too long I asked for the USA phone number so I could speak to an American who would, presumably understand basic English. They couldn't even provide that; just left me hanging.By my calculations Gurney's owes me me $45.96. I have no hope I will ever see it.I hope they find it worth it, as I will never order from them again.***************************Gurney's

Made an order on Feb. 2nd for a Reliance ****** Whitney ********** and ******* *****. I also placed another order on Feb.17th for Strawberry Earligrow, Raspberry ****, Raspberry ********, and Blackberry Arapaho. I got a shipping confirmation and I contacted them that they were shipping way to early and the last predicted frost was May 20th. I worked at a local nursery for over 12 yrs so I know my grow zone and temperature way better then they do. Theres basically no way to choose shipping time like other reputable nurseries. All the trees and plants have showed no signs of life, yet other trees I ordered from other nurseries are looking great. They issued me a replacement certificate and I placed and order on May 20th and on May 30th they told me out of stock. They should have notified me in a more timely manner and not lead me to believe that items were in stock when ordered or got my hopes up. Im just really not wanting to deal with this company and all they offer is a replacement certificate which I dont even want to use because I dont want to give them my business anymore. Ive read a lot of negative reviews about them and I regret going back to them as I am a previous customer. I would recommend that if someone is looking in to mail order trees look elsewhere there are tons of more reliable nurseries that have a lot more positive reviews or shop at local nurseries who actually know the growing zone and weather characteristics and not a company that basis shipping dates on an apparently accurate zone chart. These trees endured many nights of below freezing and I could only keep them inside for so long before having to plant them. The company said As long as the soil is not frozen. Which didnt make any difference. I work hard for my money and its feels like a waste of money buying from this company.Gurney's

I see that all of the items shipped except for 1, the Keepsake Strawberry was out of stock. I have added $19.99 back to your balance on your credit *********.Review fromLinda F

Terrible plants, the plants they sent me were half dead, or wilted, or dead. Except the blueberry plant at least that one was decent. Then they don't refund, instead they provide a replaceable certificate that lasts for an indefinite time. Why on earth would I buy again when the quality of the plants were so awful. They don't even deserve the one star. Will not make this mistake again.Gurney's

Never should have ordered from this company. $168.00 order of various plants and fertilizer and they keep moving my ship date back for the entire order. When I ordered this stuff it was listed as in stock, then half was listed as back ordered, chatted with them and magically everything was in stock and they put a rush on it, but a few days later nothing had shipped and half the order was out of stock again and back ordered. Chatted again and they put an express on the stuff supposedly in stock but it still never shipped. A third chat and they said they sent the request to a supervisor, I'm sure that won't make a difference either, sure wish I'd seen the reviews here before ordering, worse online experience and worse company I've dealt with in 10 years.Gurney's

Thank you for your feedback, the Ka-Bluey Blueberry is on back order and expected in the beginning of June. The warehouse should be processing the remainder of your order to ship this week.Russell J
Date: 05/25/2022
Well, what bothers me is that when I ordered the Ka-bluey they were in stock, then after I placed the order they magically weren't. Then I chatted with you're representative and then they magically were available for shipping for 2 days, then again magically weren't and were back ordered. So did you just list them as available so you could get the sale? Bait and switch? The whole experience has left a sour taste for ever ordering from you again.Russell J

Now, after another week and 4 chats with the company, when they said they'd ship out what they have in stock I still haven't seen anything processed. ************* I've ever dealt with.Review fromLisa J

I ordered a Christmas present for my husband Dec. 20, 2021 -- two fruit trees that were promised to arrive between Feb. 14 2022 and April 29 2022. When the treed had not arrived by March 20th I called and was told they would be on their way by mid-March.I then received a confirmation email with promised shipping dates of April 15 for one, and April 19 for the other. It is May 5th and I just called again. One tree is available and will be shipped May 9 through the end of the month (its getting too hot here to plant it) and the other is on backorder. These are expensive trees and I am being set up for failure. The customer service rep offered me $10 off on my next purchase because of this hassle. I want the trees and a partial refund on them, but no manager is available. I told her I would NOT be back, so a discount of $10 was an insult. I want my trees! I've spent $ having land prepared for them.I do NOT recommend this company based on my experience.Gurney's

Thank you for your feedback and I apologize for the delays in shipment. I have added a rush to your order, upgraded your shipping and sent it to the warehouse to get the order expedited. Once it ships, I will give you a credit of your S/H paid plus an additional $20.00 off your order.Gurney's

Thank you again, you should have received the credit for the trees and shipping and handling.
