      I went to the *********, ******** location and it was a horrible experience. I attempted to open a Money Market Account, which seems simple enough. However, the lady opened a CD, made multiple mistakes, and in the end gave the wrong rate for the Money Market Account. I was very clear about asking, prior to sitting down, what the rate would be. After almost two hours of mistakes, my wife and I walked out.

      I wish I could leave 0 stars. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST TO WORK WITH. Do not fall on hard times because they will NOT care. I called to make a payment and before they even took the payment they asked when I would be able to make another payment. So I hung up and called the branch. I tried to make a payment with them and they told me they could not take a payment from an account at another bank. *****. DO NOT USE

      They are crooks said no charge for cashing checks under $50 but brought in one for $44 from one guy and one for $47 from a different guy so since it was over $50 combined they changed $6 to cash them and when you only get paid $1 per mile that hurts

      Horrendous! This bank has been nothing but problems for me. Numerous mistakes that I had to do leg work to fix. Constant red-tape and nonsense. It seems like their corporate office is power-hungry and wont allow things to be handled at the local level. I stopped banking with them. Ridiculous.

      I would give zero stars if I could. They have been trying to charge me fees due to an error with their app and something not processing properly. They will not return those fees or the subsequent fees that accrued from that. I refuse to pay for something that was not my fault. This has been going on for over a month and they have completely screwed over and disrupted my life over this. I had been with this bank for almost 30 years and to be treated this way is horrible. I urge everyone not to use this bank. They will try to STEAL YOUR MONEY. I wonder how many other people they do this to!

      First merchant was who used to process my credit cards for my business. I bought the business 4 years ago. I myself used them for 3 of the years. I couldn't figure out why I was getting charged 2 times a month for fees. I had to pay a ****** cancelation fee to stop using them. Long story short, they were still charging me after I had paid the cancelation fee. Come to find out they were illegally withdrawing money out of my bank account. They were charging me for the old owners merchant services that she didn't have anymore. When we called to transfer everything they just connected her account as well as mine to my bank account. When I tried calling about this they told me I had to get the money from the old owner. How is that? She didn't connect my bank account to her account. It is a joke. I am not getting anywhere. So I have to lawyer up. What they were doing was illegal

      Worst bank ever, they keep closing locations and I keep having to go farther out. Then when you get an overdraft they continue to pile money on and you cant even get it down. I cant wait to close this account.

      Their banking app does not show your transactions for days afterwards and after looking at my account I think everything is fine. Then bam there are all my transactions that went through all at once and an overdraft fee for each one. My banking at huntings is much more accurate and I can easily keep track. It seems like first merchant is doing this on purpose to get fees from me. Im sure Im not the only one.

      Extremely disappointed! I have been with this Bank since I was a child when it started out as ****** bank then changed to IAB and now First Merchants. I recently refinanced my HELOC loan and I specifically asked about having a higher payment because I wanted to make sure I was paying on the principal and not just the interest. ****** who worked with me said "yeah that's understandable." However I got my first statement and all the money I am paying towards my loan is going only toward interest and when I spoke to the bank about it they said the only way to pay on my principal is to physically go into the bank and tell the teller to put the money towards principal. There should be a way to set up an automatic payment that pays towards the principal like it used to be. Why is First Merchants taking a step backwards? This tells me your bank no longer cares about its customers and doesn't want their customers to pay off their loans you just want them to be in debt to you. After being with this bank for over 30 years I will be looking for another one

      The absolute worst bank I have ever delt with, horrible outdated customer services and operates ***** years behind other banks in the communication and support for their customers. Totally not quality bank with very poor customer service and overpriced banking products. Go anywhere but here.
