I would like to register this review of our stay at the Lemon Ridge Lodge, a Moondance Vacation Rental located in Unionville, *******.Our trip started out by following the written instructions provided by Moondance Vacation Rentals on how to drive to this rental location. The written instructions were wrong. The written instructions had us turning right on Salmon Drive and a left on ******** Road. The problem with these instructions was that Salmon Drive was a dead-end road with no intersecting roads. This glaring mistake added 45 minutes to our travel time as we searched for someone in the area that would take the chance of opening their door to a total stranger and would know how to find ******** Road. Moondance Vacation Rentals has managed this property for nine years since October 2012. They did not know until I told them, that they had been handing out incorrect driving instructions to this rental location for nine years.When we arrived at the rental property, the front door lock was a lock like nothing we had ever seen and provided a challenge on how to open and later lock the door. We were not told that there were instructions on how to operate this door. We later found out that these instructions were stored inside the house. When we arrived at the rental, we were outside of the house and the instructions inside of the house provided no value to us on how to open the door upon our arrival.My wife and I are both in our 70s and my wife needs a cane to walk. The EXTREME slope of the terrain made it difficult to navigate from the car to the front door, let alone explore their 10 acres that they had advertised. This is definitely not a property for the elderly.The first step leading to the front door and several boards on the deck were rotted out and clearly a safety hazard. The spacing between the boards on the deck were so large that our small dogs leg could easily fall through and this forced us to leave our small dogs in the house while we were out on the deck.Two rocking chairs were furnished on the deck. One of the rocking chairs had the middle board in the seat totally broken in half. We had to use a pillow to sit on this chair to avoid being poked in the ****.The hot tub that was furnished on the deck was beyond filthy. There was sand in the bottom of the hot tube and the hot tub was caked with floating dead skin pieces. Judging by the condition we found this hot tub to be in, it may have never been cleaned.The house was decorated with mounted deer heads, a stuffed duck, and a deer skull over the head- board of the bed located on the main level. This was a definite turn-off to the animal lovers that we are.The house had a limited cistern water supply that we were warned about before our visit. We were told to take short showers and bring our own water for drinking and cooking which we did. Our toilet started over-flowing within the tank on the third day of our stay and the plumber was unable to fix this until after we left and turned off the water to the only toilet on the main level of the house for the last two days of our stay. My wife and I each took a three-minute shower the first three days of our stay. I opted to skip my show on the last day as I needed to mow the lawn when I got home from the vacation. My wife did however take a shower, and while all soaped up, the shower went dry as the water in the house had been totally used up by the leaking toilet. It was at this point that we decided to end our vacation from ****, and I took my wife home where she could wash the soap out of her hair and off of her body. We were later told by email that Moondance Vacation Rentals that they came out to inspect our out of water claim, and they told us they found the water to be running. My wife would not be taking a 2.5 hour trip home in the car totally covered in soap if the water had been running.I left three messages for Moondance Vacation Rentals for some form of compensation for the problems we incurred in our stay and none of these calls were taken or returned. We did receive an email after we got home stating that they would not be issuing any credit for the issues outlined above.I then called the property manager to discuss this matter further, and again requested a credit for all the problems we had incurred. Once again, I was told by the Proper Manager who has given himself the title of Premier Host, that no credit would be given to me. I told him that the rental business was like the restaurant business. If you have a good experience, you tell a few friends. If you have a horrible experience, you tell a lot of people. I asked him if he wanted me to try to chase business away from him. His response was, you wont be the first.Moondance Rentals claims to have a 100% satisfaction rate at their properties. I clearly was not happy with our stay at his property, as were the other people the Premier Host referred to, when I suggested chasing business away from him and he told me You wont be the first. With so many unhappy guests, how is it that Moondance Vacation Rentals can claim a 100% satisfaction rate? The answer to this question is that the person who controls the website, is the person who controls the narrative that is presented to the public to entice them to stay at their properties. I was able to make a public posting on my total dissatisfaction with our stay at Lemon Ridge Lodge and described it as a Vacation from H*** This posting was removed as soon as it went up. Moondance Vacation Rentals is able to claim it has a 100% satisfaction rate by having the ability to remove all negative reviews. The information that Moondance Vacation rentals presents to the public to entice people to stay at their properties does not have to be true, they just need you to believe that it is true.If you are truly into disappointment, and you would also like to experience a vacation from H*** like the one that we experienced, Lemon Ridge Lodge may be just what you are looking for. They offer you a high priced, poorly maintained, and poorly managed property. I personally wouldnt stay at another Moondance Vacation Rental if it was offered to me free of charge because I now know what I would be walking into.
