On 4/24/2023 I left my apartment to go to my vehicle, As I arrived downstairs, I began looking for my car, and soon realized it was missing. I called my finance company, the police and the apartment complex to find my car. When I spoke to someone in the front office, they had no knowledge of my car being tow as they had not called for it or signed for an authorized tow. The company I'm referring to is Indy Pro Tow. Once they reached out to the tow company, they were told that the vehicle had in fact been towed early Monday prior to me leaving for class. I have a parking sticker in my window, which was properly affixed when I checked it Sunday evening prior to going to bed. My sticker was present in the car and had warped and slid out of sight. I was charged $250, which is 2-3x the amount of a normal tow. Next, it states in the lease agreement that vehicles would not be taken farther than 15mi, my car was taken 17mi. My complaint is the lack of communication, there are no checks to verify vehicles that are registered to the complex are not mistakenly towed. I am completing clinicals as a RN and missing a day is detrimental to my completion and costly to me. I chose to stay here because I want to feel safe, that has been violated. If this was not an authorized tow, no one in the front office requested a tow, and I was not notified then why did this happen? This apartment complex does not support the safety of their residents; permitting the essential theft of vehicles by partnering with a tow company that is predatory in its practice does not demonstrate a company that values the safety and peace of their tenants.
