I am filing a complaint against the following business: Union Hospital, ***********, **. I had hernia surgery on 9-15-2023. In January of 2024 I received a bill for $5,600.00 from ****************************** LLC, I called them about the bill, was told I am responsible for the entire bill and their minimum payment is $50.00 a month. I contacted Union Hospital, the doctor that did the surgery and also talked to someone in billing at Union Hospital., was told to fill out a letter of appeal financial assistance/hardship application on their website, fax it in to the billing department at Union Hospital. Did all that. I heard nothing for 2 to 3 months. I called billing. Nothing. I called Iceland Anesthesia, was told I still owed the $5,600.00. I called Union Hospital billing after several months, still nothing. My insurance company told me that I needed to contact Iceland Anesthesia, tell them they need to resubmit my bill to Ambetter stating Iceland Anesthesia is an in-network provider. I was told to contact my insurance by Iceland Anesthesia. Again, told them to resubmit the bill to my insurance as being an in-network provider. I called Iceland Anesthesia again on 6/17/2024 to tell them to resubmit the bill, they are refusing to do so. When I insisted, they said, for the second time, that it would take 30 to 45 days before I would know anything. I used an in-network hospital and in-network provider but I'm being slammed with this bill I should not owe. That's what my insurance is for. I'm a widow with a fixed income and don't have the ability to pay this $5,600.00 bill. Can you help me in any way? I have no one else to turn to or how to get any help in this matter.

I have had a payment plan with Union Hospital since 2019 for $25 per month. Through September 2023, I have paid 57 payments for a total of $1425. This month (october 2023), Union is attempting to take $252 - this violates our agreement. I have filed a dispute with my bank. It should be mentioned that at one point this last year I was contacted by a creditor trying to double collect on this amount that I am already paying. I confronted them with bank statements showing consistent agreed upon payments and the creditor discontinued contact over the matter. Union is full of crooks.

Union Hospital continuously mails out letters that are dated weeks prior. My most recent example: I received a letter from the hospital on 09/20/2023. The date on the statement was 08/30/2023 and stated it was due on said date. However, I cannot pay a bill if I receive it almost a month after the statement. This has happened numerous times, including receiving 4 notices in one day, all dated within days of each other, yet weeks prior to actually receiving them. I have been given final notices without receiving a bill. Union has lost my applications for reduced billing and have sat on my payments for weeks without processing them. I have excellent credit and I do not want it ruined because I am not notified I have a bill due until its too late.

I had a medical procedure done on 9/21/2021 and did not receive a bill until 9/12/2022. During this time, my personal medical insurance carrier had changed so we no longer had coverage for the procedure in 2021. My new insurance carrier would not cover the claim either since it was in 2021. I called the billing company and could not get any type of resolution, I sent letters to 3 different mailing addresses and still no response from the medical agency. There was no contact from them until I received a notice from a collection agency in ********* ** in April of this year. I have spoke to the debt collection agency in ** and still have not been able to get any answers. It was almost one year after my procedure before ******************* office sent any type of bill to me.

Changes in pricing not transparent. While they may list the pricing online. They did not alert customers that the pricing schedule would change when they made changes to their lab. Their own medical staff and their own billing have admitted that they were not made aware that there would be a 10x increase. With no change in insurance - my services went from around $30 to over $300. I have been offered only a 30% discounts still leaving me to find an extra $200 I was not expecting.

I recently received an outrageous **** from Union. I had an EEG done on Presidents Day. I paid $15.96 in 2018 & $23.12 in 2020 for this exact same procedure. They now trying to extort $854.56 from me. I have called insurance and their miscoding is the source of the problem. As part of my EEG prep, I am ordered to be sleep deprived. On top of being a violation of Article 3 of the **** Geneva Convention, this makes my mind not operate at full capacity. When I showed up to Dr. ******** ****** for the procedure as I have for the last 15 years or so, I was then notified I needed to go to the hospital. This is quite diabolical and a brilliant con as my sleep-deprived mind was not thinking of the financial ramifications of the venue switcheroo nor did I have time to evaluate as the change of venue made me late when I was on time for the venue I was given. I was not in favor of the change of venue nor given an option to decline the change as the procedure is exactly the same either place but with a *****% ****-up simply because it was done at the hospital. This bait & switch tactic is in clear violation of the no Surprises Act that became law earlier this year. Like ****************************** in Christmas Vacation said, "If I Woke Up Tomorrow With My Head Sewn To The Carpet, I Wouldn't Be More Surprised Than I Am Right NowI" I did finally get to speak to a rep who offered a pitiful 30% off leaving my **** ~ ****% higher than I anticipated. Talk about surprised!
