I have been searching for a used Cub Cadet lawnmower and am very familiar with pricing and mfg policies. There is a M# that is quite rare and I found a 2018 model on the internet at ******** Lawn and Cycle Sales about 3 weeks ago, Oddly enough, it was a brand new unit that never sold. They have been unable to sell it for 3 years! They have it listed on their website for $4,999.00, even as I write this after the fact. I spoke to a salesman and he was firm at $4,999.00, which is actually a fair price. I'm in FL and have to plan for shipping expenses. He suggested a deposit, so I asked for photos since the only photo is a stock mfg photo, after which I planned to make a deposit and purchase the mower. There was a delay in the photos, so I logged in to the company website that night, and reiterated that I was prepared to purchase the mower and asked for a couple minor mechanical things to be done. First thing the following morning, I called and left a message for the salesman. Four hours later, he emailed me that there had been a mistake and the price should have been $5,499.00 plus $899.00 for the mower deck for a total of $6,398.00. But, he offered me a special price of $5,899.00. I don't want or need the mower deck and told him so, but he said it was not optional, so I declined to make the purchase. I would have bought it with the deck as advertised but the pricing switcheroo killed the deal. This particular mower always comes from the manufacturer minus the deck and the customer picks which deck they want out of several choices, and it is added at the time of purchase. I was told I had to take the mower deck as part of the purchase. This business is an authorized dealer of that brand, but is not a member of BBB. I am an out of state purchaser, so while I may have no redress regarding this matter, I wanted to make sure IN residents know how I was treated. I have since made a better purchase elsewhere.

The Cub Cadet GSX lawn tractors are priced as the tractor only and the mower deck(attachment) is priced as an attachment. When loading the unit on to our web site it automatically prices it with the MSRP of the tractor only. The consumer did state he did not want the deck but as a smaller Cub Cadet dealership we are not willing to split the tractor and the deck. When we order the tractor we order a deck to mate with it. We really want all customers to be happy and have a good experience, unfortunately this situation was not. We wish the consumer the best and hope they find the mower they are looking for.

EVERY WORD OF MY ORIGINAL COMPLAINT STILL STANDS AS VALID. I did say I did not want the optional/not optional deck, but I also said I would buy it with the deck at the advertised price. The real price is not what is advertised on the company website. You cannot buy it at the advertised price! IT IS MISLEADING! Maybe Hoefling should open a used car lot if they want to operate this way. I'm not done with this even though I found a better deal at an honest dealership.
