Lengacher's used a different deer cape for my mount without asking me even though the deer that I dropped off had a perfectly fine cape. I dropped my deer off with Lengacher's so they could mount it as a pack mount. When I caped my deer, I cut the cape to have a bit more than half of the entire deer hide. However, when I picked my pack mount up, I noticed that it appeared to be an entire deer hide. Sure enough, when I unrolled the hide on the pack mount, I discovered that they did not use my deer cape for the mount. I called them to inquire as to why they did not use my deer cape. They said that a pack mount should have a full deer hide so they used a different deer cape for my mount. I never requested that they use a different deer cape and they didn't bother to make a 1 minute phone call to ask me if it was ok for them to use a cape from a different deer. A pack mount of course does not need to have a full deer hide. After some discussion with them they stated that they still had my original deer cape. I guess they were keeping that to use on someone else's mount. In addition to using someone else's deer cape for my mount without asking me, the mount itself was also subpar. The antlers were mounted crooked by about 1". There was a 1/2" gap where the cape did not meet the antler at the burr. The form that they used was too small for the cape and resulted in a large gap in the neck where they sewed the cape. The gap was so large that you could see see foam and their stitching, which would have been visible when the mount was on the wall. The edges of the ears were not crisp and flat like they should have been. It took them 14 months to finish the mount from the time that I dropped it off (was quoted 12 months or less). On the phone they offered to take the mount back, take my antlers off and give me my original cape back. When I returned the mount, they did not give me a full refund so I am out a couple hundred dollars.
