This company emailed me claiming that I owe a debt that I do not. They are not licensed to collect debts in Montana. Also, this alleged debt from 2005 is beyond Montana's statute of limitations for debt collection. I have filed a complaint with the state's attorney general's office as they have violated two state laws.

On December 29, 2021, TrueAccord, Corp. received your BBB complaint.  We take every complaint seriously and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.
TrueAccord started in 2013 as a collection agency built to fundamentally change collections into a recovery and reconciliation process. One of our guiding principles is treating our consumer-customers with dignity and respect. We are a licensed and bonded agency accredited with the BBB. We maintain a full-time internal compliance department that established our policies and procedures to exceed the minimum regulatory requirements of the state, federal and local laws governing collections. Our in-house training program instructs our agents on these policies, including annual refresher courses.
On December 12, 2021, the current creditor placed the account and the account’s corresponding contact information into our system for collection. On December 22, 2021, TrueAccord sent the consumer an initial email detailing the creditor, an itemization of the amount due, how the debt could be disputed, and the option to unsubscribe. It also included the CFPB website ******************************** to learn more information about your federal rights.
TrueAccord takes compliance very seriously and maintains a license where one is required. For more information about where we are licensed, visit ************************************************************
In regards to your concerns about the account being past the statute of limitations, all outbound emails contain the time-barred debt disclosure that is required by law. While debt collectors and creditors cannot sue a consumer to collect a debt once the applicable statute of limitations has expired, debt collectors are still permitted to collect on the debt through other means so long as the appropriate disclosures are provided.
Based on your desired outcome as expressed in the complaint, TrueAccord processed it as a cease-and-desist request. TrueAccord will no longer contact you regarding this account. If you have any additional questions about the account, we suggest you contact the current creditor directly. Thank you.

On Dec. 28, 2021 I received a notice from TrueAccord stating "You have an outstanding balance of $880.22 owed to **** ******* *** (current creditor of your original ******* ******** ******* *********** ******* ***** ******* account)." A collection account # **************** was opened in my name. I have never done business with this company nor ******* ******** *******, I have never purchased ****** ***** ******, and do not have a ****** account associated with the email address this was sent to. About 15 years ago this very same scam was run against me, asserting that I had opened some ****** credit card and accumulated unpaid debts. This "debt collector" has a circular set of lengths that does not allow for dispute of accounts and a support number listed that is disconnected, if it was ever in service at all.

I never conducted business with this organization. How did they get my personal information without my consent or authorization? Who are they? They created an account in my name without my consent or authorization. Clearly they are in direct violation of federal law and refusing to follow FCRA and FDCPA rules and regulations. They purposely provided false and inaccurate information about me to others. They were not following FCRA rules. They willfully and knowingly shared my personal information without my knowledge and providing false information about me. They purposely destroyed my great credit, clearly theycmust be stopped.

On December 19, 2021 I received an email from **** *** *************************** stating that I owe a debt of nearly $2700 to ******** Credit Services (account ending in ****). The person with the alleged debt is ***** *******, yet the email was sent to my email address (*****************). I do not owe the debt in question and have demonstrated that TrueAccord failed in its due diligence to validate the alleged debtor's information. I question how TrueAccord can attempt to contact an individual regarding a debt without validating the actual debtor's contact information; then to do it by email presents the appearance of a well-crafted phishing attempt. The debt in question was allegedly written off by ******* and ******** Credit services in August 2012 and February 2013, respectively. I also question the motives behind attempting to collect a 9-year-old debt.

December 6, 2021, TrueAccord contacted me through text concerning an alleged debt. The debt is not mine, however, TrueAccord is emailing information with my name and account: there is not an account number to *********************** (I do not know this person), and mailing information with my name to zip code: ********* (not my address), and there is no way for me to request validation of this debt. I do not owe this company; I request validation of this debt and cease-and-desist as well.

I've had two accounts with this company the first one I paid off everything was great the next month my debt was reported as paid and fell off my credit. The second one I paid off and they never reported it I emailed them, wanting a receipt for who this account was for that I paid off so I can contact them to have it removed. They said they report it 30 days after its paid. I had contacted them over 30 days after it was paid and still wasn't reported. They just kept telling me that they are no longer taking payments on accounts and they will report it. They still have not reported or sent me info so I can get in contact with who I need to to get this settled and removed from my credit.
