      In January of this year my ******* watch stopped and since it is impossible to find the correct battery in local stores now, I took it to Showcase Jewelers ** ******* **,to have the battery replaced (Feb.3rd). I already had removed the back of the watch and the battery to facilitate an easy replacement. The woman (not sure of her name) took the watch to the back and said she got the battery replaced and we waited 10 minutes to make sure it was running correctly (it doesn't have a second hand.) When she attempted (in front of me) to replace the back on the watch, she said she was having a hard time getting it on and seemed to be struggling to get it to snap back on (usually not a difficult job as I have replaced these batteries myself in the past.) She finally seemed to have the back replaced, so I put it back in the bag I brought it in and went home. When I arrived home, the back was off and the battery was loose in the bag. Upon looking more closely, I noticed that the clip that holds the battery in place was bent. Evidently, the woman had tried to replace the back without moving the clip back over the battery which bent the clip. I took the watch back in a week later to explain what had happened and they apologized and they once again took the watch to the back repair room. I waited at least 20 minutes and she finally came out and said they had tried different solutions to hold the battery in place but were unsuccessful and would try some more, so I left it there. Several days later, they called back and said none of their solutions worked and they would send it to the ******* Watch company to see if they could repair it (and if so, what the cost would be.) About 6 weeks later they called back to say ******* no longer made that watch or had the parts to repair it. They said ******* had offered to sell me a new watch at 1/2 price but this particular watch has not been made for probably 30 years and they no longer make this style of watch *and* I told her that since *they* ruined the watch, *they* were responsible. She immediately tried to blame the damage to the watch on me! Why I would take a perfectly good watch home and then return it is a mystery to me and I lost my temper and told her that legally they are responsible for the damage and she hung up on me. I called her back and all she would say is that I could pick up the watch whenever I had time. Since then, I contacted the ******* Watch company to see what information they had on the watch and what damage they found. They needed the numbers off the back case but since I have not picked up the watch, I did not have the numbers, so I emailed Showcase twice and have not received a reply. I then emailed the main owner at the ***** ** store and have not heard back from him either. This was not an expensive watch and I would think they would be willing to bear responsibility for the watch, if for no other reason than their reputation. Thanks for your time.
