Around early 2022 I was getting quotes to add solar to our house and went with Solar Planet. I was given a quote for a 12 kW system as I was looking to produce about 100% of my previous year’s usage. The system was installed in May but due to issues with approval with the electric company, was not working until around August 2022. I questioned the production of energy for about a year and kept being reassured it was working as installed. Finally, I was informed by Solar Planet, as I questioned what a 12 kW system should produce, that I did not have a 12 kW system, but instead an 8 kW system, even though I paid the quoted price for a 12 kW system (2/3 of the system I thought I was getting). I asked that my system be corrected to the 12 kW system I had been given a quote for but was refused. I hired an attorney, and again, tried to come to an agreement but was never given anything in writing. Eventually I had to file a lawsuit in court at which time Solar Planet finally agreed to install the system for which I was originally quoted. Solar Planet did install the remaining quoted system and the lawsuit has been dropped.

Our company’s integrity is something we will never compromise. We rely on the good nature of people to willingly pay us for the valuable service we provide. In the rare event someone is unhappy we do everything we can to make them happy. When clients don't want to pay we essentially pay them to help them go solar because the only negative energy we provide is the minus on the electric bill. This is an opportunity to educate anyone reading this that the utility sets the limit on how big a system can be. It is based on the customers’ last 12 months of kwh usage. If the size of a system changes, during the permit process we communicate with the customer and send permit plans back to the engineering dept to redesign the system. We include our clients in all communication. Our goal is to build the biggest solar system the utility will approve and allow us to interconnect. This is vitally important so the customer can send excess power they do not use during the day, back to the utility for credit. At the end of every month the client is billed the net difference. Net metering is the difference between what a client solar system produced and did not use in the home minus what client purchased from grid at night. If a client produced 1000 kwh and used 1000 kwh they will likely have a minimum $20 bill or whatever the minimum charge is for that utility. When the utility does not offer net metering we incorporate energy storage so our clients can store excess power for night and have power when the power goes out. We care about our clients’ projects as much as they do and include them in communication every step of the way. Our solar systems are installed perfectly and can do a lot to make our clients more energy independent, happiness comes from within. We appreciate and feel blessed to have so many people trusting Solar Planet. We thank you for voting us best solar provider in KC.
