Dear Sir: PLEASE DO YOUR JOB ACCURATELY, CORRECTLY, AND IN ORDER. I RECEIVED NO BILL FROM YOU VIA USPS MAIL. THIS MAY BE THE SECOND SCREW UP YOU MADE IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER WITH HORACE MANN FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND MY PARENTS BEFORE ME AND WE ALL WERE HAPPY WITH NO OR VERY LITTLE ISSUES UNTIL TODAY 2023 AND 2024. I AM ASKING YOU TO DO YOUR JOB AND DO RIGHT BECAUSE I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE THE ONE TELL YOU WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO DO YOUR OWN JOB. 2023 WAS A VERY MUCH OF HEADACHE AND A HASSLE TO REGISTER MY NEWER CAR. I HAD TO FINALLY GO THROUGH MY LOCAL AGENT TO HELP ME. AND THAN ANOTHER NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS LATER AFTER IT HAD BEEN RESOLVED WAS ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT. NOW TODAY MARCH 2024 I RECEIVE ANOTHER NOTICE BY EMAIL THAT MY BILL IS NOT PAID WITH VERY LITTLE ADVANCE NOTICE NOR AN ACTUAL COPY OF THE BILL IN HAND IS ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT. IF THIS KEEPS UP THIS WAY I MAY FIND ALTERNATIVES INCLUDING FINDING ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY TO MEET MY NEEDS. CRYSTAL MARTELL, CUSTOMER

Hidden charges started right after quote. Initially, quote looked good, but when time comes to the application, it gets much more expensive, due to charges that come up at application time. Sounded like simple rip-off.

The agent at Horace Mann that I dealt with did any and everything to conceal hidden charges from me. A recreational policy that was written through Progressive Insurance by him was also a misrepresentation! I wanted to pay for the recreational policies up front and he said, “no, you don’t have to, you can have it taken out monthly for no additional charge! Well, that couldn’t be farther from the truth! They took out for each of the 3 separately and charged an additional $* for each every month! I also asked if I had to put them in storage, he said, “no, that’s the price you pay for a whole year! What I paid in 10 months, I could’ve covered all 3 for 4 years! I’ve had recreational vehicles for over 35 years!! The car insurance also went up astronomically! ***% on one vehicle and ***% on another the other 2 went up almost 100%! I don’t like being lied to, not only was the insurance agent unethical, but so is Horace Mann! They want more money and it’s not happening! Steer clear of this company, they will tell you anything to get your business! I had one of their managers, Tanner tell me that they can take whatever they want out of my bank account, if they do, I’ll file a police report and if they report to the credit bureaus I will sue them, sue for harassment, and discrimination! They won’t get another penny from me! I’ve never seen such deceptive business practices in all the years I’ve had insurance policies! The company told me my agent is supposed to go over any policy changes with me, and the agent told me he only goes over them with certain clients! I wonder how many bonuses they give the agents for deception?! I urge anyone to file complaints with their insurance commissioner, report their agents to their state licensing agency, and the federal trade commission because this as “unethical as it gets!”

Had many issues with this company. There is a lack of transparency, lack of communication, and it takes many phone calls to get claims resolved. They canceled our auto insurance without notice. They have grown too large and are a hot mess. The rates are good, but it definitely isn’t worth the headaches of being a customer or a number. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

The worst insurance company in the world! You can never reach an adjuster.. I'm questioning if this company is even real?

This is a terrible company, do not insure anything through them. I have been a homeowner for fourteen years and recently switched to Horace Mann and deeply regret going with them. It has been an awful experience. They do not care about their customers and are only interested in getting your money. They don't even do basic background information research prior to making decision about you and your property. They tried to demand that I replace my roof(based off of a few photos) and they had no idea when my roof was last replaced. Knowledgable roof experts determined my roof is good for another 10-15 years(it was replaced 10 years ago) and yet Horace Mann is choosing to cancel my insurance because I refused their demand to replace my perfectly good roof. I am so glad to be done with them. Do not choose Horace Mann!

My immigrant father who has been living here for over 20 years, had a car accident on April 11th. I let Horace Mann adjuster have some time to learn what happened or pulled out a police report, but nothing was happening for several weeks. So, I finally called him and left messages, and I also sent an e-mail that I have a police report that I had to get and I have pictures of both cars that were involved. He did not show any interest to this information and never contacted me back. Finally, sometime at the end of May, when my parents car had to be towed from the apartment complex, I began calling him every day until he finally responded. The apartment complex gave my parents two weeks, but the adjuster was out of the office, and it was nearly impossible to reach anyone in this company. The other person's insurance company called me because she could not reach Horace Mann's adjuster, but Horace Mann keeps saying that the other insurance is not responding to them. They keep sending meaningless emails and no help at all. I would like other consumers to know that Horace Mann is not a good company to deal with.
