I subscribed online to The African American Folklorist magazine in November 2, 2022 and have been charged $15.00 each month (from Nov 2022 to March 2023) for this via CKO*PATREON*. Although I have been paying for this subscription it was to be sent to my sister as a gift. However, she has only received two copies of their (supposedly) monthly magazine subscription. Thus, I contacted ****** **** ******** the Editor, Proprietor of the magazine on FaceBook messenger from Nov. 4, 2022 to Feb 24, 2023 and I have requested him to cancel my subscription. *** ******* has failed to cancel the subscription. Rather he has asked me to do this by contacting CKO*PATREON" from my end, which I have told him I can not do! I have attempted to contact CKO*PATREON via phone and email but they have not responded to my email and they have continued to charge me $15 for the subscription! The contact information for The African American Folklorist magazine and Lamont Jack Pearley is on the magazine website at **************************************************** *********************************************. 646-463-4074. 628 State Street, PO Box 1539, Bowling Green, KY, 42103 In the attachments below, please see my communication on FaceBook messenger with *** ******* from Nov 4, 2022 to Feb 24, 2023 and a screenshot of my bank account deductions from CKO*PATREON from Nov. 2, 2022 through March 2, 2023.

    Business Response

I’m the owner of this site and this person has been harassing me for a month!

when she initially asked for her subscription to end, she changed her mind because a new issue had been published.

I contacted her to make sure she received it and after speaking to her sister, who the subscription is for, she said yes.

she then asked for her subscription to be canceled.

I looked into her request and saw that SHE had to stop HER subscription which was created under an email address that was not in her name. She created it for her sister. I shared this information with her and her response was threatening.

She also said she was having trouble unsubscribing and that I had better have her unsubscribed by a certain date.

I then explained to her I don’t know why she cannot stop subscription. I told her that other people have stopped their subscription successfully, and I had no idea why she had so much trouble. And that she would need to cancel her subscription on her end. I can only BLOCK her.

From there she just went to all of my social media accounts and harassed me. I sent an email to the support department asking them to Please unsubscribe this person!!

For the record my magazine is published quarterly not monthly.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response from The African American Folklorist magazine for me to reach out to their affiliate collector (CKO Patreon) to cancel my subscription because it is not customary for a subscriber to have to cancel a publication  subscription. It is the responsibility of the publication (The African American Folklorist magazine) to cancel my subscription. However, I have attempted in vain to reach the publication's affiliate collector (CKO Patreon) to no avail! In fact, I've found numerous complaints about CKO Patreon including the impossibility to reach them via phone or online emails!! Numerous complaints regarding CKO Patreon can be found here: ************************************************************

Thus, once again I am asking The African American Folklorist magazine to cancel my subscription directly and immediately and to inform me in writing that they have cancelled my subscription.

    Sincerely,

    ***** ******

That is unfortunate! I reject their rejection!
move blocked this customer apparently to no avail. I can give them a one month refund, but if they continue to harass my company, I will report them.

This subscriber is the only person who has any issue unsubscribing.
