A total of 10 checks were written to pay for a fundraiser through ******* ****** ****** ******. The 10 checks totaled $300. Check ready withdrew $170 in checks then charged $140 in non sufficient fund charges. We contacted our bank who marked them as fraudulent and stated they would block them from withdrawing more money because we had money in the account and they did not return any checks. That means they collected $310 for $300 worth of checks proving there was money in the account to cover all 10 checks. 5/8 we get 5 letters in the mail stating they are attempting to collect a debt of $200 in addition to $175 in fees totaling $375. This money is not owed, the NSF fees were fraudulent and checkredi has collected $10 over what the original owed amount for the fundraiser was.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
The photo shows the location and is the phone number we called. I am the one that wrote the checks, signed them and my name is on the checks. We have called to try to sort this out with checkredi and they lied saying they emailed us (they do not have our email). They also said again our bank returned the checks which we reverified this morning (5/20/2023) that they have no record of returned checks as well as that we had sufficient funds for the checks. We also have proof they withdrew the same money that they are sending us to collections on from our bank account on 4/28/2023. All shown in the photos of the original complaint.
      Sincerely,

      ***** *******

The checks are actually under *********** ********  These were all submitted to us by the school for collections as the items were returned for NSF.  See attached 5 checks.  The school has in their handbook that if a check is returned unpaid by the bank their will be a $35.00 fee on each one.  You currently have a balance of $205.00 that needs to be paid in order to rectify the account.

I am rejecting this response because:

First and foremost there were 10 checks. Where are the other 5? The bank did not return them, this has been verified twice. We have asked for proof they were returned by our bank from you and not yet received it, my name is on the checks as well as my husbands, I wrote them, I signed them. You charged fraudulent NSF fees and have taken $310 from our bank account for $300 worth of checks. The math dictates you owe us $10. Again, I have provided proof of the account balance, verified the bank did not return the checks, as well as proof you have withdrawn $310 from my bank account. Proof of each one of my statements are in the photos provided.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Debt has been paid. After the last message I spent several hours digging through documents and found one document hidden in an obscure mislabeled folder where my bank lied and did reject the checks however I was not able to edit the last response to reflect that. At this point we will be taking action to retrieve the $205 from our bank which should never have rejected the checks.

      Sincerely,

On April 14th I purchased gas at a Sinclair station in the amount of $19.00 and some change. I had more than enough money in my account, and previous purchases with the same account at the same station go through no later than a business day. My transaction was made early in the morning, well before the cutoff time for business hours. Over the weekend they charged $40, excluding an ACH return charge. I did not hear from CheckRedi until the 17th of April, at which time I was in the middle of class and missed the call. They then called again later in the day and i had to miss the rest of my school class to take the call. The lady was extremely pushy with her call, repeatedly just telling me "I knew the terms" when the Mobile one advantage terms make it nowhere clear that they would use a company who will try to collect daily on such a small amount, and that i owed not just the $19.00 and change but a fee on their end on top of the ach fees that had already overdrafted my account. I was not given any chance to cover the initial fee, and expressed to the woman on the phone that I was paid monthly and could cover what I owed (the gas charge) but with all of their fees I was unable to make a now almost $50 payment. They were completely refusing to give any options, and told me I needed to figure it out with my bank. Frustrated, i hung up to call my bank. My bank was able to at least put my account back to zero, but by the next morning they charged me another set of fees, now at $98. I get paid monthly and tried on more than one occasion to set up something until my direct deposit hit. They refused and said that they would only give me until the 2nd of May to pay. im a full time college student who now owes almost $100 in their "fees" excluding my original purchase. I honestly fear they will continue to just overdraft my account and charge me fees until my paycheck, which will be completely gone by the time they continue to charge fees daily.

On April 10, 2023, I went to a ********** ***** in North Oxford, MA to get gas. I put $16.50 in my gas tank using the ******** app. On April 13, 2023 I received emails from ******** and CHECKredi that I had insufficient funds in my account. Fortu****ly, I had been paid on April 12, 2023, so I figured this was an error. But I was then hit with a fee of $15.00 from ********** ****** and started receiving daily phone calls from CHECKredi to pay not only the $16.50 in gas, but a $35.00 insufficient funds fee. They were calling asking me to pay it by phone with them, and when I spoke to a very rude male representative, he said I could pay online using instructions in the email I received. I got up this morning to find that they had taken the funds without my consent! Why harass a consumer to pay up when they planned on pulling without my consent?? That to me is fraudulent business practice. They were lying that I needed to make the payment with them or via email instructions and pulled it from my account. My account is not depleted down to $36.00 which I am supposed to use to get by for 2 weeks until my next pay period? Thanks a lot! I want the fee back. Businesses should not be charging these fees these days with the amount of financial struggling people are going through.

I am concerned with this company. I was contacted by this company saying that I owed x amount. I asked why, and He responded that they were a collection company. I asked for additional information, and He stated I would have to contact another company. So I asked you are trying to get money from me and making threats, but you can't tell me what the debt is for and send me any information in the mail? His response was No, and very sharply. I believe this company is ultimately a fraud.

Customer owes $115.64 due to 2 transactions being done on his rewards card at *** and Go.  Both transactions were returned on a closed account.  Customer had another return in 2022 so he is aware of who we are and that we collect for *** & Go as the 2022 return was also against his *** & Go account.  Customer claimed he did not do the transactions but when asked how someone got his pin number to execute the transaction he got irrational and hung up the phone.

CheckRedi charges fees that are arbitrary and they refuse to waive said fees. Their victims don't want refunds as they had no ability to refuse the fees in the first place. I'm also now being harassed by text message when I never consented to calls or texts from them as I never wanted to do business with them. They are aggressive and refuse to return the charges to the original business as they claim that they work for the business, which they do not. CheckRedi charges off the transactions and then maliciously goes after people in collections. I told them I would be willing to pay what I owe but not the fees CheckRedi imposed on the debt. That's because the charges were minimal but their fees are ridiculous.

This communication is from a debt collector. This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information obtained will be used for that purpose.

I have a SmartPay account with ********** ***** *that is connected to my bank account for ACH transactions. My bank account had to be closed immediately due to fraudulent activity. Unfortunately there were 2 charges (Feb 17 and Feb 22) from an authorized user after the account was closed. Those charges were declined. As a result, I was contacted by CheckRedi to clear the bill. I covered the transaction from Feb 17 along with a $35 fee. When I was contacted by CheckRedi regarding the Feb 22 transaction of $32.78 I offered to pay that but asked that they waive a second $35 fee which they refused to do. Given the circumstances and the fact that they approved a second charge 5 days later after the initial one was declined, I am asking CheckRedi to waive the second $35 fee. I don't feel I should be responsible for the second one. I would be happy to pay the transaction cost of $32.78.
