On February 5, 2016, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers regarding service issues. Consumers allege they are quoted one price for books but ultimately do not receive the same amount from the company.

Textbookrecycling.com is working with BBB to eliminate the underlying pattern of complaints. The company advises BBB that all quotes are valid for 72 hours to begin once consumers accept terms and conditions and ending when the package is delivered and accepted by the shipping carrier. The company advises they have updated their process to include an additional notification highlighting the quote validity period within its terms and conditions. If the package is not shipped within the time frame, the quote expires providing consumers the option to create a new quote at the current market price. Textbookrecycling.com advises that quotes made based on exact ISBN codes as this number helps determine the books value. The company advises they only accept ISBN codes as originally printed on or in the book. Textbookrecylcling.com indicates that sticker ISBNs are not acceptable and will be placed on a 72 hold with an offer to return it to the consumer for $5.95 shipping and handling. The business advises this charge partially covers the actual cost of both inbound and outbound shipping.
