1 starThis entire experience at the Mortenson family dental - Georgetown, KY Oxford Dr. location has been the worst experience I've ever had with any provider. I went to this dentist office because I had issues with an infection in top teeth and my entire face was severely swollen, I had to ask multiple times if they could give an antibiotic until my extractions because swelling spreading to the face can be dangerous, the dentist did not seem concerned at all. So a plan was made to get the top row immediate denture with bottom piece just for the bite and also during my first visit the dental assistant was very rude, seemed as if she hated her job and was not even attempting to be kind. On a follow up visit I got my denture which the shade I chose was not the shade that the dentures were and did not match my bottom teeth, also the very back two teeth on each side were smaller than the teeth before it which was strange because this is supposed to be as close to normal as possible & when I mentioned the back teeth are too small I would like them to be bigger I was told "that's how they come" & that concern of mine was ignored. I was then referred to an oral surgeon to remove top teeth that were left and had the immediate dentures put in immediately after the extractions, I went to the follow up appointment which they told me to schedule a week after extractions and they say there's nothing they can do yet due to swelling but next visit they will do a soft reline. I wait till next visit and so upon waiting patiently multiple weeks for my soft reline appt I drive about 40 miles to the visit for the reline and upon arriving the front desk employee says "I don't see anything on the schedule for you" then a few mins later she says "the appt was not confirmed so we have to reschedule your visit", I had got the confirmation text and called 30 minutes after the original text to confirm the appt, now I have to wait another month, I can't eat at all and I am miserable.Review fromEric S

1 starI go in regarding a front tooth that was chipped they filled it in a couple times it kept coming out I was over the point of dealing with it and ready to get my smile back. We did some talking and came up with the conclusion that we could pull all my top teeth and get dentures so I asked the doctor how would these work how would they fit what would I have to use what would I need and so on so he encouraged me that I would not need glue they would fit to my mouth structure and they would be the type I could eat with them in sleep with them in and they won't come out. So a month goes by I'm saving up money took every dollar I had including the insurance covering some and we discussed it again and he insured me that I would not need glue long story short I can't even eat with my teeth in even if I have glue I can't sleep with them in most of the time whenever I open my mouth to speak they fall out they're heavy I took them back in three times to get them adjusted and he told me pretty much there's nothing else he can do when I told him the day that they took a molding of my teeth that I had actually gently bit down and put my jaw out so I asked if it would matter and he said no they can work with it from that day I knew that it would never be right and I kept telling him and he would blow it off and not do anything about it. Now I have teeth that I cannot use they're entirely too big for my mouth they're heavy and he seems to not care he got my money and now he tells me that he cuts ties and he don't want me coming back in his office no longer am I welcome there and he won't even speak to me on the phone they have hung up on me numerous times. Long story short this is not a good business they was nice until the day he realized I knew the girl that worked for him and then he started treating bad over charged me was told I would get two sets of teeth and at the end I'm barely got a pair that don't even fit overcharged two timesReview fromBeth C

1 starThis is about the Florence, KY location. I was a new patient for a cleaning. I was told I needed radiographs. Radiographs and cleaning were performed. Months later I received a bill for over $124 dollars. Receptionist said I exceeded my radiographs allowed by insurance. The radiographs are only allowed every 36 months. I asked the receptionist why my insurance was not checked before taking radiographs or why previous records were not requested and she said that is company policy. They just want your money. They don't care about what was done before and they do stuff without checking insurance policies.Review fromBecca F

1 starIt's really a shame when an appt is made for lack of quality of materials used. The same filling has fallen out twice now. When arriving to appt. Patient is told that it is a 50/50 chance that the filling will even be fixed because they were "very busy." Quit double booking and saying you are accepting new patients when clearly the patients that are established cant even get a real appt. On top of that they want an exam charge before the patient is even looked at. Unfortunately the pocket books of Mortenson are growing without even helping out patients that look to them for quality dental care. Also when you want to speak to the office manager they are never available and will not call back. Very upsetting.Review fromgregory f

1 starwent in for yearly x-rays, exam, cleaning. girl did an exorbitant amount of x-rays (more than the insurance pays for), had some other girl come in to measure gums in which she purposely caused much pain. the first girl would not shut-up and would not answer questions. never got teeth cleaned. they finally, after 3 phone calls, said I needed periodontal scaling and root planing. and then she put on paper referral for extraction all 4 wisdom teeth. i'm 68 and have never had any pain or problems with wisdom teeth. and she never mentioned the wisdom teeth removal once. I read it on the insurance quote. I told them I came for a yearly cleaning, they said I had to have the scaling thing done, period. I called the insurance, she said "no you don't", that they should do as you want. these people are a scam, pumping up the profits. by the way, she apparently thought it would make a difference as she repeatedly stated it would cost me nothing. they are a scam.the girl that did the x-rays but nothing else was nothing more than a pitchman for profits. did not do what I "wanted", but insisted I do what they said, as it would make them more money. they refused to do my yearly cleaning.Review fromBrianna M

1 starI don’t even want to give a 1 star review. I have been going to the same office for over two years. I have never had a problem until today. I went in for a cleaning, the hygienist explained that she was going to do one side of my mouth, and then we would have to schedule for me to come back for the other side. I said okay, asked a few questions. She asked if I wanted laser. I asked for her to tell me what that was. I said no thanks, and then told her that I couldn’t have anything done that my insurance wouldn’t cover because I couldn’t make any out of pocket payments. She said okay, we won’t do the laser, I signed. We started. I was already a little agitated that it took so long, and she was so back and forth for the whole visit. But I go to check out, and get told I have a payment. I asked why. Told her what was discussed, she explained the whole payment to me, okay… but why wasn’t all of this explained to me prior to the cleaning? Then I get told “well you signed a treatment plan..” okay, yes, but that was after she explained the cleaning procedures to me, and after we discussed I couldn’t afford our Of pocket… so she told me I could set up a payment plan, I said okay, that’s fine, I have no issue with a payment plan, I just can’t pay anything today, but I still want to know why this wasn’t explained to me.. and why she told me something way off the rails of what’s on the paper. “Well you signed the treatment plan, and financial responsibility…” okay.. I didn’t say I wasn’t responsible, I also never said I wasn’t paying it, I just want to know why this wasn’t explained to me, and why I wasn’t given the option to read this “treatment plan” that I signed for… and I was told that they would take care of it but I wouldn’t be allowed to come back. So I got kicked out, for simply asking a question about why something wasn’t explained to me, and why I was asked to sign it, when it wasn’t read or did I get to read it. Way to lose money.. because now I’m not allowed back.Review fromRichard H

1 stari went in to the dixie highway office several days ago. to put bond on a chipped tooth done in hospital e.r. when i broke leg. those serrated breathing tubes broke top and bottom front teeth. two teeth. the mortenson dentist, she took lackadaisical attitude: "it's just gonna break off again". well, the last one lasted 12 years and the tooth on top was also chipped and the bonding is still fine. she wouldn't listen to me. there was no reason to do 600 dollar xrays, nor a 'deep cleaning' that has left me miserable and i can't find a dentist who accepts aetna but them. they referred me to a endodndist who mortenson said accepted my insurance, but they do not. in fact, they accept no Medicare PPOs. they wanted 1400 dollars just to see me! i don't mean to sound paranoid but i feel she did damage to back top teeth [says 'planing' for crowns on paperwork] to do crown work i do not need. the deep cleaning cost insurance $1000. i did not realize they are not bbb accredited. for your sake don't go there. insurance paid it. i don't know what i'm going to do. and they wonder why there's an opioid crisis. these people should be investigated. pray for me. i'm so miserable. i'm used to dentists fixing what i need, not bullies. i'd sue if i could. i cancelled the 2 appts they had set up for me. i'm an elder. $1004/month. but i have aetna. they saw dollar signs. despicable, absolutely despicable. my usual dentist doesn't accept insurance thru something called opencare. i could have gotten what i needed for less than $200. no novacaine required. i'm going over there to see if they'll see me out of pity, if nothing else. don't let their cheerful attitude fool you. they are tonsorial quacks, in my view. and i've been around awhile. regards, good luck, God bless.Review fromCandy/Donnie D

1 starMy husband called to get a price on a lower dental plate. He was told he would have to schedule a consult appointment and the charge would be $30. He scheduled the appointment. When he got there at first they wanted to take X-rays—-of what?? He has no teeth. He finally got to see the dentist. She wanted to see his lower plate. She told him it was weakened and he needed a new one. Wonder how she could tell—-he had only glued it three times with super glue. That is all that was done. She change $140 instead of the $30 that he was told. When he asked her about it she said she doesn’t do the math she just charges. Absolutely would never go back there not refer anyone to them. This is not the first encounter similar to this w this office. Years ago we had a similar situation. We paid the bill and just didn’t go back for 20 years. It’s such a shame.Review fromMichael B

1 starI think that each location is different. I went to the the office located at 4311 Bardstown Road and was very disappointed with my experience. Without getting into the details, I will only say that I would recommend going somewhere else.
