I am a female solo traveler and was asleep in my room when someone opened my door at 10:40pm. Thankfully I had the latch on the door and the sound woke me up. I sleep with a gun on the nightstand and yelled that I had a gun. They responded but I couldn't make out what they said and I just started yelling that they should not be opening my door, they need to leave immediately and if they come in my room I would shoot them. They left and I called the front desk who said they would look into it and call me back. They called me back a few minutes later and told me it was maintenance and the guy told them that he knocked first. I lot my **** over this and told them nobody should be entering a guest room at 10:40pm and that if anyone comes in my room while I'm sleeping, I will shoot them. The next morning I followed up with the front desk supervisor (who was very professional) and she said she would have hotel security look into it. I called a couple days later to follow up with hotel security and the person I spoke to said they weren't aware of the situation and they would look into it. I asked them to call me back. Shortly after I received a call from the hotel manager, and I was not thrilled with the information she gave me. She said hotel security did look into the situation and saw that a staff key had been used to open my door. She said the person who used the key was housekeeping and they were entering my room to leave an alarm clock that I had requested earlier that evening. She said the housekeeping person said they knocked three times and decided that I must be out so they thought they should go into my room and leave it for me. It sounded like she was explaining on behalf of the staff member. After I said the process should be to contact the front desk to call the room, she said that is their procedure and that she will be reminding hotel staff of it. After this and seeing the hotel has a D- rating here, I will not be staying there again.
