Equian sends threatening letters supposedly on behalf of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and demands you share private information about medical treatment received. My immediate thought was this is a scam. I will never share private health information with some random company who threatens that payment will be ‘taken away’ if I refuse to answer how an injury occurred. If Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is behind this in order to avoid payment of claims they deserve a negative review as well. If you don’t know the law, you would respond immediately and share this private information, even though federal and state privacy laws say you don’t have to.

my attorney told me this so called company has a lien on me for over $1400 , workers comp. in which i never received a certified letter from Equian and the first of hearing of it. all the numbers i called don't work, it doesn't state what injuries or anything else and claims to be from Advocate Health Partners, i made calls to Advocate and nothing is showing up on that date, and any total of me owing any money to them. This is workmen's comp, i've been on disability for over 25-30 yrs haven't worked since or presently. there are a few phone numbers, names and addresses and the recovery specialist phone number does not exist. i believe it's a scam /phishing. by law if their is a lien on someone as mentioned above i should of received a certified letter regarding it. i have never received a letter at all. i am upset about this and if i have to file a claim in the court about this i will because this is wrong ,nothing of the kind ever happened. I don't have any workmen comp claims because i haven't even worked! this so called company has to be thoroughly investigated. most likely a Nigerian 411 scam, but i will investigate more to find out the truth. contact an attorney if you receive any letters from them. i never did luckily my attorney caught it.

I got a letter today from Equian, so I thought that I would go to the website listed in the letter. The website URL says that it has been shut down, so now I am more than concerned about this company, to say the least. I went and searched on Blue Cross Blue Shield, and there is no mention of this company when I do a search of Blue Cross’ site.

I had a brain hemorrhage and the surgical team saved my life but could not positively identify the cause. I am 70. I got two letters from Equian, LLC after I was discharged. The verbiage appears to be phishing for information. My insurance BCBS does not mention this company in its annual brochure and policy manuals. Out of curiosity I accessed Equian website and found the information they asked for was none of their business. I contacted BCBS and let them know that I refused to have anything to do with this scammer. If they legitimately represent BCBS, please state so in bold in the BCBS brochure. My gut feeling is Equian, LLC amounts to a freelance mercenary looking for an opportunity to make some bucks out of unsuspecting patients.

This company is horrible, they hang up the phone on you all the time, and definitely on purpose, they are sarcastic and dont really care to help you, they have been taking their sweet time responding to my lawyers, my lawyers call and they dont respond or simply hang up on them, they claim i have a bill with them but we cannot close my court case unless they respond, this company shouldn’t be in business and dealing with such important matters. Disgusting customer service, i wish i didnt have to continue to try to communicate with them. I’ve heard from other people they are currently working on suing them.

Definitely looked like a scam. In the past, when my medical insurance company has had questions, they sent me a questionnaire through the mail directly from them. I've never heard of this company, and they're not entitled as to why I had to visit an urgent care 13 months ago. If it was legit, they'd have the paperwork already. My claim was already paid.

I responded to a letter from Equian, via their online system, in August. I received a letter today from a provider stating payment on my PRE-AUTHORIZED MRI was retracted and I am now responsible for the bill. Now I have to spend precious time dealing with this, despite my imaging not being related to an accident, AND having responded to this horrible company as requested. Regardless of whether it is legal, it is an immoral and unacceptable practice to harrass customers. I pay Blue Cross over $25k/year. I just reported this company to Mass DOI

This looks like a scam organization. Unfortunately, I gave them my information before realizing that they are not directly associated with my health care company. Sending, unwarranted and frightening letters telling me I am REQUIRED to respond....SHAME ON YOU.!! I am disgusted that companies like this exist, and I am disgusted with myself for being deceived by them.

SCAMMERS. LIERS. My medical insurance info has been scammed by this company. This scamming company stated my health insurance company uses them as a 3rd party to help with insurance claims. They are liers.

Ms. Aldridge. Equian/Optum is not a scamming company and does absolutely contract with virtually every major health insurance company to provide various payment integrity services for them. I'm happy to provide you with confirmation directly, not only about our relationship with your health insurance company, but also provide you with details about our inquiry to you directly. Please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. I don't need any personal information other than the file number on the letter that you were sent. Thank you in advance.

I received a letter from whom it's hard to tell. The letterhead says WellMed c/o Equian. I had to research the phone number online to know who I would be calling. As with other people, the date of service they refer to was more than a year ago. So what do they want? The text starts "We need your help..." Really. Do they need my help. I don't think so. It all seemed crooked to me. I'm glad to see that others before me posted a similar experience because now I don't have to call a phone number that I'm concerned about calling. VERY BAD BUSINESS (or is this legitimate business; I'm not so sure).
