      I received a letter in the mail today from Owen Electric under account number ********** claiming I have a delinquent balance of $169.98. I do not nor have not had Owen Electric service for 10+ years. Called the member service dept. number (###-###-####, option 4) and spoke with a man (I was unable to hear his name as when he answered the call it cut out). I explained the situation and asked what the balance is for. He gave the address of **** ****** which I moved out of in early 2011. The letter indicates a final bill along with 2 follow up letters were mailed and I asked where they were sent to. He indicated they were sent to **** *****. I said how am I supposed to get those if you sent them to **** ***** I never lived there. He replied "the service address was **** *****". I said ok, but letters were sent to **** and I never lived there how am I supposed to get those? He then asked if I wanted to take care of the bill today and I said no this balance is from 2011, so it took you 12 years to find a new address for me? I said that I would have to go back through my records as I tried to make sure all balances were taken care of before I left the old address and that if I needed to I would follow up with my attorney since the letter is threatening to send to a collection agency. The man on the phone then laughed, said ok and hung up on me. I called back and spoke to a lady named ****** and asked for the name of the man I just spoke with as well as to speak with a manager, but ****** said she couldn't tell me who I spoke to that a manager would have to pull the call recording. Transferred to a manager, but went to a recording.

      OWEN ELECTRIC IS A MEMBER-OWNED COOPERATIVE OPERATING ON THIN MARGINS. IN AN EFFORT TO COLLECT OUTSTANDING BALANCES, WE OFTEN ATTEMPT TO CONTACT FORMER MEMBERS WITH UNPAID ELECTRIC BILLS. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO CONTACT THIS FORMER MEMBER SOON AFTER THE ACCOUNT HAD BEEN CLOSED (VIA PHONE CALLS AND LETTERS). RECENT ATTEMPTS WERE MADE AFTER MORE ACCURATE CONTACT INFORMATION WAS ACQUIRED. IT IS CORRECT THAT THIS ISSUE AROSE FROM A BILL FROM 10+ YEARS AGO, BUT THE BILL REMAINS UNPAID.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ** ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

      Owen states several attempts were made via phone calls and letters to reach me soon after account was closed however the gentleman who took my phone call already admitted correspondence was sent to **** ***** which was not my address.  There has been zero attempts to reach me at just this month.  Per KY Rev Stat 278.225 I should not be liable for a bill that is over 2 years old as this to me is unbilled by sending to an address which I did not reside at and no forwarding address listed for them to send my correspondence there.

      Hi I am ******* ***** and Owen electric has charged me more and more every month and they also cut my electric off with out a notice change there about I was supposed to pay and they are very rude to there customers and I have medical reasons why they can't shut off my electric with out notice and no arrangements after asking for it and just got back to work from having covid and the didn't send me a bill either they are a lousy company and don't care about the people and definitely believe the need to be investigated period to many bad complaints for the not to be look into
