First and foremost, I take no pleasure in writing this review. I liked this company very much up until this point. He backed out on me the night before the job was to begin after I asked for receipts for materials and dump fees. He told me he didn't provide receipts for materials or fees and he wanted to turn down the job. I didn't know it wasn't standard practice to ask for receipts and was shocked by his reaction. When I told him I was fine with the receipt situation, that I signed the new estimate he provided which incorporated a few minor changes and that I wished to proceed with the work, I was THEN told he didn't wish to proceed because I had requested these minor changes to the work plan (mulch type, moving some stepping stones and trimming some vines away from the house) and he no longer felt comfortable moving forward. The changes did not lower the estimate and were requested prior to the receipt request. Certainly, it's his right to not perform the work. If you decide to use this company, make sure you are certain you know what you want, don't ask for minor last minute changes and don't ask for receipts because, apparently, it's common knowledge landscaping companies don't provide receipts for materials or fees. I must have missed that in common knowledge class. I certainly didn't know and shouldn't have been treated like some sort of jerk for asking. Oh and it was perfectly acceptable for him to postpone the work a week because of weather. Change okay for him, but not okay for me. Get it? A complete waste of my time and super disappointing. Totally unprofessional to leave me without a service I had waited months to have completed...his schedule, not mine.
