On 11/18/2023 I bought a car with approximately 45,000 miles from Richmond Car and Truck Center. The car initially drove fine, and after purchase, we did not notice any immediate issues except a TPMS warning light. After taking it to ****** ***** *** to have this issue looked at, a slew of other issues were revealed, most noticeable among them are a major oil leak, an AC compressor leak, a coolant leak, a failing battery, dry-rotted coil springs on the rear suspension, and a broken OBD port that was tucked away. We reached out to the original dealership to speak with them and were told that the issues couldn't have been present prior to the car being purchased as nothing like what we were describing was present in the inspection they had performed on the car. This was no more than 1 month after purchasing the vehicle. After going back and forth with Richmond we got a copy of the report from the inspection that was performed on the vehicle. The only major issue reported was a prior oil leak which they claim to have fixed. After that we reached out to the warranty company to see how much they would be willing to cover. They sent out an independent inspector who in his report concluded that some, if not all of the issues were present prior to the warranty going into effect i.e. before I purchased the vehicle. The warranty company has agreed to pay for some, but not all of the issues present. After that we moved the car to a new auto shop (****** ****) that had a labor rate that the warranty company was willing to cover after paying $189 at Ricart for their inspection fee. They independently diagnosed all of the issues the dealership had said, but they were unable to fix the car in a timely manner, so it has been moved to a third repair shop, ***** **** ***** This third shop diagnosed many of the same issues. At this final shop the warranty company has settled on covering $1,400 of repair work and I have been quoted $2,400 out of my own pocket.
