I’d steer clear of this roofer. James E Roofing. Apparently he’s an authorized ***** ******* contractor. I’ve just contacted them with this information….. Roof installation. Skylight was not step flashed as required. Caused a leak that damaged my ceiling severely. $1,000 in damages. Called to get it resolved. I have pics of before, during, and after roof install. James E came out and refused to fix the skylight. Instead, he just wanted to fist fight. Claimed he was a mixed martial artist and would break both my legs. Did some research on **** and called another roofer. Apparently he has a history of threatening his customers with bodily harm. I'll be suing in small claims court.

      Dear *** *******,
I understand frustration when it comes to any type of property damage.  However, this is not an issue of poor workmanship.  As I explained to you when we met on 4/17/22 to look at the issue, the leak is due to an old skylight that needed to be replaced.   When we completed your roof two years ago, we told you then that your skylight needed to be replaced.  The photo that you show is a photo that my company sent to you showing that it needed to be replaced.  You did not want to spend the money to replace it at that time and said you would deal with it down the road.
Your accusation of aggression is inaccurate.  During our meeting, I agreed to replace your skylight at a discounted cost for you.  You thanked me and I said I would send over a contract the next morning.  However, very quickly after I left, you started sending me numerous threatening and racial messages.  As the messages continued to get more aggressive, I eventually, had to file a complaint with the police department.
I’ve been in business a long time.  I hold the highest installation status with the most replicable material manufacturers who stand behind my workmanship.   I have 20 years of satisfied customers.  It is unfortunate that we could not come to a resolution on our own.

      Respectfully,

      ***** *

      Hi ****,

I’m rejecting the response as per the following:

      1.      I was never told that my skylight needed to be replaced.  My Scope/Contract makes no mention of that at all.

      2.      It is a problem with workmanship as the flashing was not replaced (or even stepped as required).

      3.      I have $1000 in ceiling damage as a result and have 3 professional opinions and estimates to prove it.

      4.      I took that photo with my phone and will use it in court as evidence.

      5.      I was threatened with bodily harm by Jamie (the owner) on 4/17 first while reviewing my situation.  Not that any of that is relevant to a small claims action.

      Thanks!

The roof replacement was completed but the drip edge has bows all over the roof gables. The Aluminum Fascia on the gables were damaged during the installation of the roof. James E****** the owner of the company has told me several times that he would repair the damage but all I get is excuses and now it’s December and he won’t answer my calls. That’s why I’m filling this complaint.

      Dear *** *****,
Drip edge is metal flashing installed at the edges of the roof to keep water away from your fascia and from getting underneath your roofing components. The aluminum facia that was installed by your builder or previous contractor was not installed correctly and touching the roof.  To install the roof properly, parts of the facia needed to be lifted to install the roofing system. We discussed some solutions, but your request was for James E****** Roofing to replace all of the facia free of charge.  I would recommend you contact your builder to discuss the facia installation.
      Respectfully
      James E******

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

      Regards,

**** ***** / Mr. James E****** didn’t mention that the facia would be damaged when the new roof was installed. My question to Mr. E****** why wasn’t the facia section removed before it was damaged? His company inspected the roof and never mentioned that the facia would be damage in the process. My opinion poor Managment during inspection prior to the installation of the roof. Mr.E****** told me he would replace the damaged area of the facia. But it was one excuse after another. Mr.E****** told me he had several jobs on several houses to do and he was going to do them at the same time. He keep putting me off and now I know why, He never intended to repair it hopping I would give up. For get the drip edge that would destroy my roof to repair it. I just want Mr.E****** to do what he said he would do. Mr.E****** was doing the wear down tactic about the facia replacement. That’s it just repair the facia.
