I hired Auntie Nat's Soul Food and Catering last year for supplies catering services for my daugthers wedding. On October 20 2021 I test the cater the pre cise date of wedding and have proof of it. I added to the menu a charcuterie board for an extra 150 dollars. I was not provide as well. On Staurday October 15 2022 I sent Nat's catering a picture of the invitation and she send back that she had the 22nd of October. I have once again proof that I sent her to correct date. Nat's catering told be on the 15th that I had to pay 800 but went down to 350 for emergency services to pay her staff and her for food to be service on correct day. I paid the 350 . The wedding started at 5:00 pm and started speaking to her at 2:45 pm on the Oct 21st 2022 {wedding day}. She told be she would be there at 5 and I was upset because that when services started. The cater did not get there until 7:30pm on the 21st. She brought the food. She was told even by text that she could not bring electrical in the building only burns. She brought electrical, which means food wasn't warm. There was no utensil or plates. she arrived at 7:30 and left before wedding endede. I paid 1727.50 plus the 350.00 for emergency services.

      Business response

      11/09/2022

On October 20, 2021, the client called to book my services for a wedding for her daughter, which ON A PHONE CONVERSATION she stated she was unsure of the actual date so in the meantime we documented on the invoice it was 10/22/22. The client did send a text; however, when the invoice and contract were sent over for the client to THOROUGHLY look over and sign, she said "everything looks fine!" and that she was just ready to secure the date. I take responsibility in the error of not making the initial change at the time of the text; however, I was catering for another event at the time and encouraged my client to thoroughly check over all of the information I typed in the both the invoice and contract (which she DID NOT SIGN after many times of asking...the client even stated "oh I never even looked at the date because I just assumed it was correct.) I am human, and errors do occur from time to time. Furthermore, because the client was on a payment plan for her invoice, EACH time she received a notification to make a payment, the date and menu are attached. In addition to the incorrect date, the client had already made many changes to the invoice throughout the year of planning...her main goal was to "GIFT" the catering services as a wedding gift for her daughter, but insisted/stated multiple times that she needed "CHEAP menu items" because when I initially told her my prices she said she wouldn't be able to afford the catering. Which at that point, due to the client being a referral, I told her I was willing to work with her. Fast forward to the date of the wedding, I was late due to traffic & the GPS rerouting me which I told I apologized for (at that point, however, I was no longer speaking with her...I was speaking with the staff from the venue who helped me get to the correct location). There were plates and utensils at the wedding...the client ordered FINGER foods in which my staff and I placed on/in small display shooter cups. Saucers were provided as well. Everything was HOT on arrival, which (by the time was rerouted due to traffic), allowed guests to eat and enjoy. I also did leave before the wedding ended because I was not paid to stay and serve, which is extra for all of my events. Due to inflation, the money received for services were not even enough to cover the client's foods, but the client was still given everything she paid for regardless of that fact. Multiple guests ate more than once, and stated their satisfaction. I think that the client's dissatisfaction with my tardiness is what led to this complaint. I attempted to speak with the client upon my departure to let her know that I set aside 5 plates of food for the bride, groom, and the parents and she refused to speak with me. She flat out said, I'd be hearing from her lawyer to which at that point, I walked off. I hugged her daughter (the bride) and thanked them for their services and we even shared a laugh about her booking me for my gumbo. As I was loading up, the client came outside looking for where I had gone and stated she didn't know I was leaving to multiple guests. After the client let me know she'd be contacting her lawyer, I did not feel her daughter's wedding was the time or place to continue to attempt to speak with my client who was visibly under the influence at the time. As I departed, the began harassing me via text and phone over the next few days from her phone number, and her family members' phones (I pay for caller ID monthly which is how I knew). As a business owner, when a client states that they want to get lawyers involved, I've been encouraged by my own counsel to not engage and to wait to hear from the client's legal counsel before proceeding.
