Invoice paid in full on May 8, 2023 Total amount $8,765 Full yard St. Augustine SOD for new construction home Dispute: The sod that was laid down was defective (approx. 1/3 to half of the sod immediately died, and the remainder came with invasive weeds in the sod that has killed and choked out most of the remaining grass). Business HAS NOT tried to resolve the issue. You can see from the attached photographs that we now have a yard of weeds, not St. Augustine grass. In the photos, the healthy-looking grass up against the flower beds I laid down myself prior to contracting Acadiana Choppers to the rest. This sod took just fine and is thriving, whereas the sod that this company laid is almost non-existent. We spent nearly $9,000 for basically nothing. We will be pursuing legal action if this issue is not resolved.Business Response

Jesse and Jaimie-
I am very sorry to hear that you feel that the issue with your sod is unresolved. Please know that we at Acadiana Choppers are always available to further discuss any issues that you have. Since we have performed many jobs for you in the past and you’ve always been elated with the results, you know that we take pride in customer satisfaction and are always willing to go above and beyond to rectify any issues that arise.
As you may recall, on May 31, 2023 Acadiana Choppers installed sod at your home. This beautiful, green, 100% St Augustine sod was purchased from ***** **** ***** in Crosby,Tx. Upon installation and again when you called a week after installation, Acadiana Chopper’s manager Cobi met with you at your home and demonstrated how to water your sod and for how long to ensure that the sod is soaked through and though, to the point that the bottom of the sod is soaked and the dirt underneath is also soaked. Even when you stated that you “did not want to overwater” Cobi’s response was to make sure that the sod and soil underneath is SOAKED. Cobi commented that the sod looked fine at this visit it just needed a good soaking and that it was not being watered properly. Cobi left this visit confident that you understood the process of watering the sod.
Acadiana Choppers did not hear from you for over a month (July 8th) when you texted that we needed to take a look at your yard because you had issues with the sod.
On July 10th around noon, Cobi and Victor (Acadiana Chopper’s owner) met with you at your home to look at your sod. At this visit the yard was COMPLETELY DRY although you stated that you had watered really well that morning. There were areas that had dead sod that were completely dry. Those pieces could easily be picked up and they weren’t even damp. Sod that was properly watered just that morning, would have at least been damp. At this point, Victor offered to make a phone call to one of our sod vendors for a second opinion. Mr. Paul ****** with *** ***** *** **** ****** is a sod expert who we knew could easily diagnose the issue. Mr. Paul agreed to meet with you at your home to look at the sod.
On July 12th Mr. Paul ****** met you at your home to assess the sod. You even showed Mr. Paul how you were watering, what sprinklers you were using and explained your process of how long you water and move the sprinklers around. Mr. Paul concluded and explained to you that you were not watering nearly enough. He also gave you some instructions to follow in the future to ensure proper watering. You confirmed that you understood.
After this meeting Acadiana Choppers did not hear from you until you started posting your complaints on social media. Had we known that you were still having problems we would have suggested bringing in the county agent from *** ** to assess the sod and give their expert opinion as well as getting ***** ***** involved because it’s their product. Although Acadiana Choppers installed the sod, the homeowner is ultimately responsible for keeping it alive.
As the heat increased and the entire area went into a drought, it became imperative that you soak your sod. Your sod died from lack of watering. Acadiana Choppers installed your sod a week before the heat wave and drought and you did not make proper adjustments to your watering duration to keep your sod alive. As your sod perished the weeds started to take over and the grass started to die. Acadiana Choppers installed sod for another client in the area the same week as the installation at your home and due to proper watering it’s thriving.
Both times you contacted us with issues we met with you at your home within 2 days of your call to address the issues. We would be happy to continue to work with you towards resolution. It’s our understanding that you have decided you are not interested in resolution as you have continued to post negative comments and reviews about us on social media without even trying to reach out to us.
We install thousands of pallets of sod a year from ***** ***** with great success. Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us and we are always willing to work with customers who are willing to work with us. We hope that you will let us help you resolve this issue.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: There has already been outside communication (aside from thru the BBB) between myself and this business, and as a result, differing/false statements have been made by a representative of said business in regard to this complaint. As I've stated previously, all we have been asking for is resolution from this company (I even stated that/checked that box in my original BBB complaint), or even a conversation as to what resolution might look like, but in their own words "It is our understanding that you have decided you are not interested in resolution as you have continued to post negative comments and reviews about us on social media." Not interested in resolution are words that I have not spoken nor put down in writing. Posting to social media about my displeasure with this whole situation was my last resort as I had previously expressed my concerns with this company through text messaging and my calls for help were met with no action items in the end and my last group text message regarding this situation went unanswered. This company has already responded that 'you are the one responsible for 8k of sod dying'...this tells me that this company is not interested in resolution.I will say this again as I've said it multiple times before...all we wanted was some kind of resolution, or even a conversation about moving towards any form of resolution/what it would look like from this company, but no effort has been made on their behalf to try to rectify this situation.
Sincerely,
Jesse ********Business Response

Our resolution to this dispute was discussed via text with Mr. Jessie ******** after he made his first complaint. If Acadiana Choppers installed the sod incorrectly or if any of the sod that was installed is proven to be defective, we would be happy to replace it. Myself, Mr. Paul ****** with *** ***** *** **** ******, and Maddox ****** the ****** ***** **** *** ** all agree that that the issue, most likely, is caused by environmental factors such as extreme heat and drought like conditions. We understand Jessie’s frustration in this matter and hope that with the milder weather conditions and continued proper care, that Mr. Jesse’s sod makes a turn for the better. We hope that if Mr. Jesse has any further questions or needs to discuss things further that he will reach out to us via phone or email.
Respectfully,
Victor ***** (Acadiana Choppers)
