The collision center received my 2017 ****** forerunner approximately 11 months ago after it had been stolen, and subsequently involved in a shoot out and later a collision with a parked vehicle. Despite all the damage, they submitted a supplemental estimate to State Farm, which did not meet the threshold for the vehicle to be totaled. I later learned this supplemental estimate did not include a full mechanical or transmission assessment. This is relevant, because if they determine additional damage, the initial estimate would obviously be wrong, and perhaps would have met the threshold to be totaled. additionally, the used car market value has decreased dramatically in the last three months, while the interest rate for automobile loans has increased significantly. If my vehicle would have been declared totaled or completely repaired within a reasonable amount of time, I could have either bought a different vehicle, while interest rates were low or sold, the repaired vehicle at its value six (approximately $7000 more than its current value ) months ago or so.
