We hired R and G Contracting for a small addition to our home. We chose this service because *********************, the contractor, could refer us to an architect , who could design the floor plan. Also, the estimated price was 3% lower than others. The contractor said he had 2-3 crews working for him but those guys never showed up. We paid him 40% of the estimated cost, while we signed the contract. Then, the remaining amount would be paid in two more installments. However, he kept demanding the payments before hand without following the contract terms. Just to keep the project moving, we paid him in several installations. It took 2.5x longer than estimated time. The cost was increased by 6%. Overall, the quality of work was okay. The siding was good but the flooring installation was poor. We decided to hire him for another addition project as he promised to finish on time without stopping. We signed the contract without flooring and electrical work with R and G Contracting. The winter had already started. So, we could see him spending more time on this project compared to the first one. In the first project, he was coming to work only 2-4 hours for 2-3 days per week for most of the time. We felt he took this project seriously and it would be done faster than the previous one. He was still demanding the payments beforehand. Unfortunately, the framing inspection didn't pass since he didn't build as designed. So, the project got delayed by two months just to pass the framing inspection again. Based on the contract, the project should be done by December, 30. However, we anticipated to be done by the mid of February but the project is still going on. Overall, this is really a stressful experience. We should not have done second project at all. Also, the contractor was looking to find the sub contractors and get the quotes. Because of that, there was a long wait just to get the subcontractors.
