1 starIt is a ripoff. A total joke. Do not waste your money. All they could tell me is my dog is a Supermutt! The report is not worth a *****. I would give negative -5 Stars if it were possible.Review fromTiffany S

1 starIf I could give a 0 star I would. Ive now reached out to embark a total of 5 times without a resolution (5 emails and no number or person above *****) STAY AWAY.Thanks for reaching out about ***** results. Ancestry can be surprising- I'd love to provide some context. I've performed a second, manual review of her results and can confirm that they are accurate. You should know that, while Embark is pleased to offer the most accurate and comprehensive dog DNA test available, a DNA ancestry test cannot determine purity. This is because purebred status is not itself a scientific designation. It includes human-defined registration status and pedigree records indicating all of a dogs ancestors were of the same breed. Consequently individual dogs registered as purebreds can display ancestry from a few different breeds. Importantly, these genetic results do not affect registration status in any way. You can read more in our blog post here. All the best,***** ****** Genetic Results Specialist Embark Vet Her ancestry isnt surprising when I paid thousands of dollars for her to come with a pedigree and after getting off with AKC there is no linkable data to suggest that she carries cocker spaniel in her genetic makeup akc requires DNA testing from stud males and per the viewable results on what yall came up ******* indicates that within 1 of her parents lines that 1 of her great grandparents is a cocker spaniel mix. A 4 generation pedigree confirms that this is not the case. *** advised me to have a new test sent out as its odd that I dont own a cocker spaniel mix in my home. I was advised to buy another test to test the same dog. I need to know who to escalate this to because I would like a retest mailed to me please so that I can double check the results. I will not be repurchasing to test my same exact dog and only am asking because of an error. That I be mailed a replacement test kit for heR Dates of no contact 12/26/24, 12/26/24, 12/27/24 12/30/24Review fromTessa W

1 star[ME]Opened my kit. Swabbed dog and activated kit. Getting error that kit has already been activated although I havent activated it prior and just collected it today 10/27/24. Please advise. [EMBARK]Hello, Upon checking, the kit was already expired. Unfortunately, per our policy, test kits can no longer be used 24 months after they have been purchased. If you are still interested, we could send you a replacement test. If you are interested in moving forward with this option, please reply back with your shipping address and I will create this order for you.[ME]Hello,Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Gosh had no idea there was a time limit on the kit. With that being said, Id love a replacement kit. Address provided [EMBARK]Hi, I've created an order to replace your expired kit and an invoice has been emailed to you. Once it's paid, you'll receive an order confirmation and then a shipping confirmation once it's shipped.[ME]Hello,I was surprised to receive an invoice charge for a replacement kit, especially given our previous email exchange where you mentioned the kit without indicating there would be any associated costs.I provided my information under the impression that I would receive the replacement at no charge.Additionally, the kit in my possession does not have an expiration date, and I could not find any mention of such a date on your website.Given that I paid for the original kit and have not yet used it, this situation is quite disheartening. With that being said, I would like you to reconsider the charge for the replacement kit.[EMBARK] I have reviewed your previous conversation with the agent and I found that you were advised of the policy and being asked if you are interested in this option, we will send you an invoice. If this was not very clear, we apologize for it, however, there is a $25 charge to get a replacement and we cannot waive it.If you are interested to proceed in doing the test, please settle the payment through the invoiceReview fromKristen T

1 starI wish I could give zero stars. I purchased an age kit to help me learn more about my adopted dog. The birthday they provided to me was AFTER he was adopted, which is clearly physically impossible. I also have vet records of his first visit, showing he was a fully grown adult when I adopted him, which means that even their claim that his estimated birthday would be within one year of the date they provided is inaccurate. I requested a refund and was told they do not provide refunds for scientifically sound work. So, telling me my dog was born after I adopted him is scientifically sound work? This company is a total scam that capitalizes on the attempt to manipulate pet parents who love their adopted rescues and want to learn more about them. Absolutely disgusting business practices. Now I am attempting to dispute the charge with my credit card company as they refused to refund me. I would stay far away from this company.Review fromSarah H

1 starSo disappointing. We were given an expired collection kit, which we were told would not affect DNA quality (not true but whatever). We got our dog from an AKC registered and trusted GSP breeder, who also happens to be a longtime family friend. We knew her mother was GSP, the father was a mystery (mom had an adventure after finding a hole in the fence). We got the testing for health screening, but the results came back 50% Dalmatian and 50% German Shepherd. So... 0% of her mother's DNA?I thought, hey, this could have just been a typo at some point in the communication process. It happens a lot with GSPs often being shortened to something like "German Sh" in digital systems. Or maybe the sample was too degraded for a high enough CI so the genotyping was rounded? Could have been literally anything but her mom not being a GSP.I reached out to ask them to look into it since the breed results were inaccurate, so the health results might be too. **************** provided a series of canned and dismissive responses and ultimately refused to help me unless I provided a photo of my dog... for an inquiry that had zero to do with what she looked like. This alone is a huge red flag about the legitimacy of their operation. I asked 3 times if there was anyone else I could speak to and each time that question was completely unacknowledged.I hate to have spent so much money for results I can't trust and for responses this frustrating.Review fromDeborah K

I am so frustrated with EMBARK. I sent an AGE DNA test in for my dog. I am a dog rescue and quite often send in DNA's to help assist with breed for any dog. I send in several every couple weeks. I am always excited to send them off and quite disappointed when I receive them... or IF I receive them. So often they send them back saying not enough swabbing.. Listen, I have been doing these for years... I know how to do it.. maybe its an issue on their end. Well I sent in the Age dna test and after 8 weeks... it came back as not good. I responded to them asking which test was it? since I had sent off several..they never answered. I sent off THREE emails within the last 2 weeks and NOTHING... tried calling and they do not accept phone calls anymore.. then I finally got the retest sent to me... and they SENT THE WRONG TEST! They sent a dna test back and not the Age test.. IDIOTS!! I have been emailing daily but NO response as of yet.. This is so ridiculous. Why are they not responding. they only accept questions from their webpage but they are not answering them. They lost a very good customer.. and they would not even help out rescues.. only breeders.. so sadEmbark Vet

They told me my dog is 100% Village Dog. That is not a bread and they should refund my money.Embark Vet

I'm sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your dog's results. I understand how these results can be surprising! A Village Dog result means the majority of your dog's DNA doesn't come from any purebred dog breeds. Village dogs were around long before modern purebred breeds (which, remember, really only started having closed populations in the past century or so), and there are still a lot of dogs in the world today who have little to no ancestry from breeds. If you'd like to learn more about village dogs, we recommend this resource: **********************************************************************************************************************

1 starI will never feel like this wasn't a waste of money or recommend embark as I feel that it is inaccurate. My dog, Jersey, looks identical to a yellow lab but there were no yellow lab in her results. Her results are American foxhound, Rottweiler, American Eskimo, German shepherd, siberian husky and **** ****...none of these breeds have a variety of yellow breed. I tried to reach out to support in case her swab got mixed up with another's but they just double downed on the accuracy. Although they were responsive, I am unsatisfied and feel it was inaccurate. My other dog, ***, who looks like a shiba inu (yet yielded 0 of that breed) were more believable but still don't seem accurate. They should have offered a refund when I expressed my dissatisfaction and stared pictures yet they just essentially double downed on their testing.Review fromAli R

1 starI ordered a swab kit from them, and they received it from ***** they lost my kit, and wont pay shipping back to me because Im international (******). #1 in customer satisfaction? Yeah right. So I had to pay for the kit, and shipping to me, then shipping back to them, only for them to negligently lose it, so I need to pay for more shipping back to me, do the swab again and pay for more shipping back to their lab for them to possibly lose my swab again.Review fromRaluca W
