Sweeney Roofing was paid $3000 on 9/29/22 for a job to repair our slate roof. About an hour after starting the job, Rick and his son Steve started yelling at each other and without explanation left. They abandoned a large ladder and other equipment on our unfinished roof and left a section of our roof exposed at the beginning of the rainy season for two months before they finally returned again. They also left a large ladder in our yard and roofing debris in our driveway during that time. They made numerous promises to return but never followed through. Eventually they stopped responding to texts or voice messages entirely. On 9/30, 2 months after starting the job, they returned to collect their equipment and spent about 1 hour working one one portion of the roof. It is approximately 1/4 of the entire roof. They said they would return the next day to finish the job but did not. That is the last time we saw them. They will not return our phone calls or texts. They also agreed to coat a section of the roof with a protective material, to clear out our gutters, to remove the debris from the project, and to fill a hole in the gable with steel wool. They have not done any of this work. It turns out that because of the material (nickel I believe) of the section that they had agreed to coat it would not work with the coating. We paid another contractor to clear our gutters and will be hiring another roofing contractor to inspect and most likely redo the work Sweeny Roofing did. I also paid transfer station fees to dispose of the debris left behind. Additionally, the tiles that they did replace are poorly installed and are an eye sore. There are many tiles that are visibly in need of replacing or repositioning. We need to hire another contractor to redo the work and inspect the exposed portion for rot. We cannot afford to have this work redone until we are refunded a portion ($2000) of the money Sweeny Roofing was paid.
