    Dear BBB: My husband had been doing business with BDC roofing and Home Improvements over the past 2 years, with a cordial business relationship. The owner ***** D"******, of ************************************************************** phone ************ was contracted to do the roofing shingles on our personal home, and his work needed to follow a framer as the roof needed reconstruction and ***** stated he was not qualified for. This was all agreed upon beforehand, and the work began on Nov 25th. ***** was on vacation, not on site, and his workers, despite my husband introducing them to the framers, refused to talk with them. The framers ran behind on ************** workers called ***** complaining as my husband, received an irate and highly unprofessional, threatening call from ***** indicating that the delay was our fault, and that his men were unable work, which is untrue, as there was a whole other part of the roof that they could finish, but they sat around smoking (butts all over yard). Recently discovered poor workmanship as leaking roof. My husband, (a retired corrections officer) tried to de escalate Mr. ********** phone call, which was shocking, given the prior work relationship and filled with profanities, but to no avail. Mr. ********* then stated he was pulling his men, and that my husband could deal with it ( an open roof) and hung up, and would not answer his phone. His men took back some of the supplies that we needed, and left our roof uncovered, I mean beams were showing. My husband, son, & the framers had to tarp the roof due to the severe cold and forecasted rain. This was very unsafe, for my family. Also the tarp had to cover the chimney, and therefore the boiler had to be shut off (no hot water), the wed before Thanksgiving, and we had his elderly Dad staying with us, and luckily we had a split unit for heat. We scrambled to find another contractor to come out to do our roof on 12/1. My husband asked for invoice, and told ***** he was unprofessional.

    I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint, as he would not answer his phone the day he left the job with our roof open and uncovered. HE  did message for HIS money, and my husband informed him that he was unprofessional and his response was, " sorry it happened but is is what it is".   VERY unprofessional.

    BDC Roofing & Home Improvements in unaware of who ******** ******** is as all communication was through ***** ****** of ***************** & *******************  The open roof pictured was from the framers on the first day.  The picture provided here is at the end of the day (Monday before Thanksgiving 11/25/24) when BDC Roofing & Home Improvements employees were unable to install the roof due to the inability of the carpentry crew of another agency to complete their work on time.  BDC Roofing & Home Improvements did not install the shingles pictured and will not take responsibility for the shoddy work pictured by Ms. ******** as she stated truthfully that another company was hired to do the roof work.  The invoice sent to Mr. ****** was for the materials left at the job site which were installed by the replacement roofing company and the day of labor BDC Roofing & Home Improvement's was on site at the insistence of Mr. ****** that the roof would be ready for installation on Monday 11/25/24.

    Better Business Bureau:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ********. Please add your rejection comments below; if you do not provide any details, your complaint will be closed as Answered. 

    I think the big picture here is being missed here.  BDC quit the ***** over the phone as a matter of fact) with the roof wide open END of story.   Whatever he needs to say to put his head on his pillow.  I have no other rationale for writing other than to say highly unprofessional business. 

    Businesses and Customers should be civil, courteous and polite in their responses to complaints. It is important to remain professional and productive when participating in the BBB complaint process.
