I have a service contract with Beantown for a/c and heat services - tuneups and repairs as needed for $519.75 per year. My a/c was not working and on 7/21/24 a tech performed and afterhours service call ($239.25 fee charged to me). He replaced a capacitor on my a/c. It appeared to be working at that time, but it stopped working overnight and he came again - and changed wiring on the new capacitor and again seemed to be working but kicked off overnight. I was told to call an electrician who did come the next day and changed the wiring on the capacitor and the circuit breaker box and it is now working. My contention is the the problem was not fixed by Beantown nor is the charge of $519.75 reasonable to replace a $50.00 capacitor. Repeated calls to office requesting to talk with/and or call back from a manager have gone unanswered. No reponse from Beantown at all.

Thank you for bringing this case to our attention. During our service visit on July 21, 2024, we identified that the capacitor had indeed failed, which caused the system to trip the breaker. After replacing the failed components in the ** condenser, we suspected that the breaker may have also been damaged, and would need an electrician to replace it. We scheduled our in-house electrician to perform this work, however this appointment was subsequently canceled by the customer, stating she would be using her own electrician.

For us to review and consider a refund for the customer, we will need the following:

    1. A detailed explanation of the work completed by the other contractor, including what the issue was with the repairs Beantown had performed.

    2. Pictures of the work completed by the other contractor.

This information will help us understand the situation and address the concerns appropriately.
