I've had nothing but good experiences at Rockland Trust alone and with my family - mostly the branches in the ****** area and ********. The Summer ******* program earning money for books read has been a great good habit builder for my kids. Citizen discontinued a program (that was less generous, anyway). As far as I know, only Rockland offers one . We have savings and checking accounts, and the kids even bought their first CDs this year (they were very proud). Opening a CD for an adult is a lot different than opening one for a child asking 25 questions about banking, and our rep was very patient and answered them, even showing brochures that covered some questions.My only con is the *** fee for out of network. I almost never use an ***, but on vacation, I may not be in network, so I wish they would give say, 5 free transactions a year for a customer in good standing.A lot of the reviews seem to be people disappointed at handling of bank acquisition, overdraft, fraud, and security protocols. I have not had to deal with any of these scenarios, so can't speak to them as opposed to other financial institution handling of same said situations.Review from Cleveland W

Rockland Trust bought the bank that's had my account for over twenty years. When I call the 800 number to simply check my account I'm told to re-enter my passcode and to do it more slowly. No matter how many times I re-enter my passcode, and pincode, and last four of my social security number, I'm told to do it more slowly. When I try to get a human on the line I'm waiting for almost 20 minutes with their ridiculous hold music that seems to emulate the call about to drop. The hold music literally breaks up in the exact same way a call breaks up moments before it drops. It's as if their useless board of directors decided it would be cheaper to convince their customers the call is dropping as opposed to joining the 21st Century and offer a call back service. I wish they never bought the bank where my account was because it has been absolutely miserable getting anything done with them. Rockland Trust is utter garbage.Review from Sandra V

We fell behind due to an illness in the family and when we sent two partial payments they returned one payment after the deadline. They refused to apply our first payment and set us into a reposession situation. They didn't let us know until AFTER we were in repossession status! What bank doesn't accept a payment?!? My dog was injured in an accident. I took him to the emergency vet, where they needed a $1700 deposit for his radiology exam. Since $1700 was, according to Rockland Trust, 'over my daily spending limit', I called customer service and explained my situation, expecting to have the transaction authorized. I gave her my : debit card number, checking account number, DOB, address, phone number, and branch where I opened the account. Having given her all of this info, she had decided that my identity couldn't be verified, because I was unable to state the EXACT amount of an ATM withdrawal 8 days prior. I (again) explained my situation, this time I said "My needs medical attention, he's literally laying on the floor waiting for my payment to be approved. Her EXACT response: "GO FIND A BRANCH AND GET IT TAKEN CARE OF THERE" I have sent a formal complaint in writing to Rockland corporate. Also, I have sent detailed letters to the ***** and ************* ***************** just to make sure a large group of animal lovers are aware of how Rockland Trust customer service treats a tenured customer with a veterinary emergency. To ********************, don't bother with your unhuman/AI automated "we are sorry..." response to any of my reviews. As to the compassionless female who denied us assistance, I can only hope nothing like this ever happens to you.*I will be posting this review on every review forum possible, as well as RE-POSTING it every month, for the next year.Review from Angela M

I initially went to this bank because it was a smaller bank and because I had bad experiences with **** of America and Santander, I decided Rockland trust would be a good company to try. Very wrong. I am on the lower income bracket and I had just enough to open an account. I did get myself into some trouble with my finances due to COVID and losing my job, and my account did go negative. There were some charges that I dont remember making however not the point. I have asked the bank to close my account. Like the other big banks they refused saying they cannot close it till I have a zero balance. And in the meantime the fees will continue to build up not allowing me to ever fix the problem. So I am now without a bank account. They also have the worst customer service I have experienced with banks. Even the big giants were nicer when they refused to take off fees. I spoke to *****, manager, at Rockland Trust as my ****************************************************************************************** money to her account to pay the fees and cover any checks and add extra money. He said he could not help me only her. I got her on the three way call and asked all the verification questions required. He then said he could not help us as we failed. He said she would need to contact a branch she used before. This is a person who does not remember and doesn't even remember writing checks. We did not get any help at all. The worst bank ever. My account somehow is overdrawn over $700 due to bank paying transactions I did not authorize nor have the money for in my account. I was locked out of my account and hung up on multiple times by "customer service". I opted out of the overdraft protection but still charged hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees. I did NOT ask them to authorize transactions I did not have money for when I opened my account 2 weeks ago only!! I went in the bank yesterday and the woman who helped me said "too bad, you should have come in sooner" I told her I had just started a new job and they were closed by the time I got out. I would like all these fees returned since this was bank error. I got no help from the Plymouth branch and treated like a criminal when trying to explain my dilemma. I would NOT recommended this bank to anyone. Totally unethical with these charges that were not my fault as I opted out of this overdraft "protection"Rockland Trust Company Response

So sick and tired of no help with employee s at ********** Rockland trust l notified them there been activities on my debit card that's not me I was told because the activity was pending there nothing could be done so I have to wait and dispute it this the second time also they have shut my card down on a purchase of ***** that I did with out permission or a phone call this time it's a ****** with out my permission and it's pending they didn't call or shut my my card down I got email stating there was activities on my card from some company thanking me for an online order that I didn't do so I warned ********** Rockland trust twice they said there nothing they can do thinking of going to another bank doing business with these people for 30 years mistake after mistake . Last October 2021 i did refinance with rockaland trust where i had my previous loan ,I was misleading by the lender officer she sold my loan to deffrent lender without even knowing about it , she never mentioned that the loan would be sold . !! Later after the closing I received a letter from Fanie *** say that they purshased the loan and my new lender will be with Newrez !! I i called the bank to reach an answer but no help ,i tried to call any manger to explain to me why That happened it was very hard to reach someone to talk to , they said you are no longer with us !! i emailed her manger he said they we will investigate and will call me back ,no respond until now ! Never trust Rockand trust . At the beginning before starting the application everything was very good but later you will be misleading , , ,it was vey bad experience ,
