I settled this debt back in June of 2023. I have called Freedom Credit Union several times explaining that I have a letter from the third part company stating that the debit has been settled in full and it is the credit unions responsibility to update the credit bureaus. They have been giving me the run-around since last year, and have been sending me back to the third party company. The debit has dropped my credit rating so low because they are still reporting that I owe them. I would like for this debit to be taken off of my credit so I can get back into position to purchase my first home!Business response

***************************** settled her debt with Freedom Credit Union on May 15, 2023 for less than the full balance. A letter stating that the account was settled in full was sent to her on June 3, 2023 by our collection agency. The total balance of the personal unsecured loan at that time was $5,027.20. **************** paid the credit union $2,850.00 leaving a charged off balance of $2,177.20. The credit union reported the loan as Unpaid balance reported as a loss (charge off) at that time. Freedom Credit Union updated the credit bureau reporting on May 15, 2024 to read account paid in full, was a charge off. The loan account will still appear on the credit bureau as a paid charge off. Those type of accounts do not get stricken from her credit bureau record.Initial Complaint

Ms. ****** filed a debit card dispute with Freedom Credit Union disputing two Cash App transactions on her debit card in the amounts of $200 each. Ms. ****** did not agree with the denials and subsequently made several derogatory remarks about Freedom Credit Union on social media. We have made several attempts to reach Ms. ****** concerning the denial of her disputed Cash App transactions. In her original dispute, our fraud department submitted the disputed transactions to MasterCard and those transactions were denied chargeback rights as they were performed on Cash App – a money transfer service. Ms. ****** was advised to contact Cash App directly for resolution. We have been in constant contact with Ms. ****** to get her all the information that we have from MasterCard concerning the disputed transactions to assist Ms. ****** in getting the mistransferred funds returned. Additional detailed reports from MasterCard were received today and we spoke to Ms. ****** who requested we mail the detailed documents to her which will assist her in her dispute directly with Cash App. Thank you!
