I needed to apply for an Estate EIN with the IRS so I googled that and entered a website that looks very much like the IRS website with regards to color, logos, etc. After filling out the information I was asked to enter my payment information. I don't remember doing this for the last three business EINs that I applied for, but have been asked to pay for documents from the Secretary of State, so thought that this may be part of an Estate EIN. I did not see the cost anywhere. But after goin back I do see the radio buttons that had standard and rush charges. The rush charge button was preselected by the website. I was charged $279.00 for something that I could have done actually quicker on my own. I feel that I have been scammed by a fraudulent website and I want to be reimbursed. Please take a look at https://irs.usa-taxid.com/. The address itself looks like and irs address.

Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2022/04/06) */ Hello Ms. *******, We apologize for any confusion on our part. We do make it clear on our site that we are a Third Part organization, and do everything we can to support our customers. We can see that your order was already refunded in full. If there is anything else we can to help you, please let us know. Thank you Consumer Response /* (2000, 14, 2022/04/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) I was refunded completely. However, the site does not make it clear that they are a third party organization and in fact the site is designed to mimic the IRS site with respect to logos, colors, fonts, etc. This is a scam site and the federal government should review their practices.

On Feb 10, 2022, I wanted to obtain an EIN from the IRS for my business. I came across USA TAX ID website that can easily be misconstrued as the IRS official website. Their website domain is irs-tax number.org which also makes one to think they are on the official website of the IRS. Well like many others I have fallen for their trick. I went to their form to receive an EIN from the IRS, I answered some questions and paid their processing fee of $249.00. After sending over my payment, I received an email from *******@taxid-usa.com thanking me for my service and my payment details. I immediately realized that I didn't file for my EIN via the official IRS website and became very worried of being scammed. From quickly doing more research into USA TAX ID I also came to realize that others were deceived by them as well AND that it's FREE to file for an EIN through the IRS. 10 minutes after my transaction I went to the USA TAX ID website and filled out their contact us form stating that I wanted a refund. 5 minutes after that I also replied back to the original email sent to me thanking me for my service and stated how dissatisfied I was with USA TAX ID setting up their website and domain in a way that deceives consumers into thinking they are the IRS. I also mentioned how upset I was and how I felt scammed into paying the $249 processing fee when it is FREE to file for an EIN via the real IRS website. USA TAX ID also asks the same questions as the official IRS for processing an EIN, they do not provide any special service outside of what you would get from the IRS to file for them to fairly charge $249. I have also sent an email to another one of their email addresses, *******@usa-taxid.com stating my dissatisfaction in being deceived in thinking they were the IRS and also paying $249 for an EIN and I asked for a refund and that if I got no reply I would be submitting a claim to the BBB. I gave them 4 business days totaling out to 6 reg. days and never received a reply.

I filled out an application with this business, my confirmation *********** last night at 12:39 eastern time for a charge of $249 thinking this was the legit IRS site. Shortly after I sent it , I realized it was not so I submitted the online form telling them to cancel the transaction. This morning I called them around 8 am. The message stated that their business hours started at 9 so I called back at 9 am eastern time. The lady said I could not cancel because it had already sent it to the IRS at 7 am eastern time, so basically there isn't a cancellation window. There isn't a way to get in touch in time. This is a high price to pay to them to fill out a form that most people can do themselves for free on the IRS Website. Also a legit customer service rep would not act as she did. You can usually tell a legit business by how helpful their customer service try to be. Also I tried to call the IRS to see if the EIN was a legit number but there was over an hour wait time, may try again tomorrow. This business should give customers more of a chance to cancel a service.

I did not complete the transaction online and the company still charged me, I immediately called , sent an email and left a voicemail about the erroneous charge. I followed up the next morning and spoke to customer service and was told the transaction was cancelled. I continue to receive emails saying it is processing and emails saying I didn't complete the transaction with a reduced offer. I want the full amount refunded to my account asap. This is a company that has a fraudulent business and business practice. Impersonating the IRS and charging even though the transaction was cancelled before payment. They provide false email addresses, do not respond to customer inquiry, do not honor what was verbally communicated by their customer service rep.

This site impersonates as an IRS site, and charges $279 for applying for an EIN number, which is a free service offered by the IRS. I request a complete refund, as I immediately called them (no answer) and also sent them an email requesting cancellation (undeliverable because the remote server is misconfigured). IRS should ban this entity immediately or ask them to provide a clear disclaimer on the site.

https://irs.usa-taxid.com is fraudulently impersonating an IRS site in order to charge for an otherwise free service available directly through the IRS government site. I was fooled by the website and submitted a request for an EIN on January 10, 2022 for which I was charged $249. After checking out I realized that it was not an official IRS site when it tried to upsell a different non-irs service. I immediately contacted the company by email and directed them to cancel my request. I then went to directly to the IRS official site and obtained my own EIN. I received an email response from the company the next day (January 11, 2022) that they would not refund the full amount since they had already processed the request and emailed me the EIN. This was not true as I did not receive that email until 5 hours after the denial of refund email. Their email stated they would refund $174 but keep a $75 cancellation fee. My credit card does not show event the partial refund that they indicated they would issue.

On 1/04/2022, I mistakenly applied for an EIN through this website. I believed I was using the IRS website. I completed the online form and paid the $249 EIN processing fee. I received email confirmation of my order. Immediately, I realized I made an error and had placed an order with a third party website. Using a link from the confirmation email, I went to their website to obtain contact information. I called their contact number, which turned out to me a voice mailbox without a company name. Within 30 minutes of the confirmation email, I left a message with my information requesting order cancellation, as it was placed in error. I explained it was never my intention to use a third party and I believed I was on the IRS website. I also, sent a request via the website customer contact form to cancel the order indicating it was placed in error. I asked them to cease any activity to obtain an EIN on my behalf. I explained it was never my intention to use a third party to obtain an EIN. I requested a refund. I further explained I attribute my confusion to their use of images consistent with the IRS website and the use of the IRS in their domain name. I informed them I would escalate a complaint to the Attorney General of MD, the MD BBB, and Jayne M. of WBAL, if necessary. I have received numerous emails asking me to complete my EIN registration for an additional $127. It has been 7 days and this company has not responded to my online request or telephone call.

I was fooled by this site into thinking I was at an official IRS site when appying for a tax id number. I had never applied for such a number so I didn't know that the $249 charge was not normal. I later was told that the IRS gives these numbers for free. I feel that I was taken by this company and should receive a refund. I could see maybe a $25 fee but $249 is a ripoff. I know I should have looked closer but I also blame Google and taxid-usa for making this seem like I was going to an official site of the IRS. Even if I don't get any refund I want the Better Business Bureau to include my complain with the hope it might somehow help others. All they do is forward the form to the IRS. This occurred on Dec 9, 2021 using my VISA card.

Today (11/30/2021) I looked online to create an EIN tax number in order to open a business account. The first search option came up as USA-taxid.com where I went online to request this EIN number. The price was $274 to have this EIN number created when via irs.gov you can do the same thing instantaneously and get an EIN number back form the government at no cost. When I got the email back form the site (Order number #AAXXXXXXXX), I immediately contacted them as I saw the below message If you have any questions at all, please contact us as follows: *******@USA-TaxID.com (800)-317-5781 I called the number above and they response I got is they could not help me with any questions I could only go to the irs.gov site for any questions. Within 2 minutes I got an EIN number but I am afraid to even use this number as the entire thing sounds fraudulent. I will be also contacting my AMX tomorrow as I also asked for my money back when I called them and they said it was already processed (literately 2 minutes from when I originally submitted online). I realize I was completely scammed by this ...but just want others to be aware and if there is any leverage for this company to refund my money.
