I went to Roland Park Orthodontics (RPO) for a consultation for a new retainer. I needed to send my insurance company, Delta Dental (DD), re-determination to see if they would cover a new retainer. While there, they wanted to do an x-ray, which I agreed to. After the x-ray, I spoke to the doctor about a new retainer, but that conversation does not really matter to my complaint. At the end of the appointment, the office manager/receptionist told me my total for the day at $350. They did not ask for insurance cards and I paid with a debit cards. I later called back because I was confused what I paid for and why. I was told I paid for the x-rays and they do not bill insurance directly and instead suggested I file a claim. Now that claim in processed. DD is telling me 3 things: (1) xrays are covered at 100%, (2) DD is issuing them payment of $93 as full payment, as RPO agreed upon that price as full payment, and (3) my payment is $0. After talking to DD I was told RPO needs to refund me the full $350 for the above reasons. I spoke to the office manager at RPO who is refusing to refund the full amount. DD later suggested filing a grievance against RPO, which I will also be doing. I simply want my full refund that DD has determined I am entitled to.
