On Jan 16, 2023, the homeowner requested a quote for interior paint through a website and was contacted by Dan ******, the owner of Emerson Paints. The contractor visited the homeowner's house to provide a quote, and the homeowner asked if they could repair the living room ceiling before discussing anything else. The contractor agreed and provided a quote of $4,980.81 via email, with adjustments made to remove some items. An invoice for $1,969.62 was sent, and the contractor required 1/3 of the payment upfront. The contractor stated that they would start with the ceiling, then the trim and walls. However, the homeowner noticed that no repair was done to the ceiling on the first day of work, and the contractor stated sarcastically that he knew what he was doing and had applied an oil-based substance. The next day, there were still no changes to the ceiling, and the contractor rushed through painting the walls and trim. The contractor's work on the repair was unsatisfactory, and subsequent attempts to correct it were unsuccessful. The contractor made sarcastic comments and was disrespectful towards the homeowner when issues were pointed out, and the homeowner was told by the contractor, "I get it, but what do you want me to do?" After attempting to talk, the homeowner walked away, and the contractor left abruptly without the homeowner's knowledge, leaving paint cans in the driveway after using the homeowner's electricity to keep the paint from freezing. The homeowner attempted to contact the contractor to work out a resolution, but they were unwilling to cooperate. The homeowner requested a refund of $500, but the contractor refused. The homeowner and his wife had to remove the tape that was left on for too long and clean the paint from other areas, such as the hardwood floors and cabinets. The homeowners had to pay more to another contractor to fix the work, and they are requesting $800 back. Request assistance in resolving this issue
