Date of Event: November 3, 2022 Junior Racing League I would like to file a formal complaint against the Jessup location specifically as it relates to the safety of the carts. I have two sons enrolled in the junior racing league, and this evening I witnessed staff, taking carts apart, removing breaks out, and the staff was troubleshooting the carts while the kids were on the track. It was quite alarming, yet the other parents didn't seem moved by it, so I didn't say anything. Unfortunately, my son was injured last night. He hit the wall so hard that is helmet came off. As a natural reaction, of course as parents we came to his aid. The staff asked us to leave the area as it's a liability for us to be in the pit or near the track. Now, I understand the rules that we are not supposed to be in the pit however, our son lost his helmet while crashing into the wall, we wanted to make sure he was OK. I calmly told Caitlyn that I wanted my son out of the vehicle, and I wanted the race to end but instead she proceeded to tell me to get out the pit, and if I could not obey the rules then I could leave the league. I told her that the other week another child crashed into the wall, and their parent went all the way on the track and was there as she spoke to the kid but yet here, I am trying to do the same for my child and you will not allow me. This is unacceptable behavior, but not only that then she proceeded to say some of these carts don't turn right and unfortunately, we're short-staffed. We don't have enough mechanics to fix them so now she admitted that the carts were not in the best condition, which is what we saw all night. Everyone witnessed this crash, and it was very intense, shocking, for everyone. We have a portion of it on video. I reached out to the owner and general manager regarding this. He said they will review and get back to me. They have video footage too. I am calling attention to safety protocol and process around injuries at this location.
