I used this service for tree removal and stump grinding. The tree removal went fine, but I have an issue with how the stump was taken care of. I was told someone would be in contact with me about the stump removal after my tree was removed. I didn't hear back from anyone and then went on vacation. I returned to my property and they came and destroyed my lawn! They grinded the stump and left all the debris on the lawn, destroyed my flower bed, and left deep track marks all over the lawn. The business was so nasty about reticfying the issue! They came out but the crewmate Eric was so nasty about it said it was going to look better. They just removed the stump grindings, put down top soil, grass seeds, and hay. It looks like a pig pen and they refused to compenstate me for the flowers destoryed. Try to talk to manager Jade and she screamed I was harassing her to the point my ear is still ringing. They are lying and said they called me beforehand but no one did, they said I agreed to the work VERBALLY, but I never signed anything! They trespassed, destoryed my lawn, lied to me, and then screamed at me for their mistakes I want a full refund of $200( the initial work for the tree removal) and a apology from the owner. If possible, I would like to prosecute for tresspassing and destruction of property. Also, to actually fix my lawn PROFESSIONALLY!!!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/12/20) */ Nationwide did remove a small tree and grind a small stump. Our estimator Austin did speak with Ms ***** prior to doing her job and gave an additional discount to Ms ***** at her request for the tree work and the stump work. We came out and performed both jobs separately. There was landscaping edging around the tree stump which we removed before grinding the stump so we didn't damage it. The small garden around the stump was in the stump grinding area so of course that was grinder along with the stump to assure the entire stump and root system was ground properly. It states on our contract that the resulting grindings will be raked back in the hole where the stump was. We completed the job as per our contract. There were very superficial track marks in the grass from the stump grinding machine which was necessary to complete the job. Ms ***** did call to complain and I immediately sent the crew back out and removed the stump grindings at no charge because it is a separate option on our contract and we did seed and straw the straw the superficial marks left by the grinder. Ms ***** had a tree removed and stump ground out. There's obviously gonna be evidence of that a tree was removed. As far as my staff being rude, that's a flat out lie. Ms ***** called multiple times berated my staff. She's the one that was rude and nasty. We've done everything we can to please Ms *****. We gave Ms ***** a great price and did a good job. She just wants something for free which she already got when I sent the crew back out and removed her grindings for free. Ms ***** is just a miserable nasty person and there will be no pleasing her. I wish her the best and hope she finds some peace in her life. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/12/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I wish I could live in the reality where you thought you did a "good job". You're super immature. If you wanna look to see who is mean and nasty, then look in the mirror. I never needed the money to begin with but just wanted to treated with dignity. I asked for a refund because how disrespectful you all are. Yall can keep the money since you NEED IT SO BADLY!!!! I hope you buy some class with it. Apparently, that is too much for you to handle in this "response". Just shameful and very telling. You're a terrible business with piss poor management. I hope one day you will learn accountability, how to use a phone, leave a voice mail instead of lying about it and screaming/gaslighting customers, and of course customer relations. Cheers :)Initial Complaint

Today my neighbor had a tree removed from their backyard. They contracted "Nationwide Tree Service" from Pasedena MD come to remove the tree. During the removal, a large trunk landed on our fence completely destroying a large portion of it. We contacted the business to ask them for insurance information. The call was routed from one person to another until the owner was put on. He refused to provide insurance information and yelled at my wife for asking. Instead they say they will send their "maintenance guy" to review and repair damages as they see fit. We have proof on my ring camera video of the impact due to neglegence, along with several other pictures of damages and company trucks. Please help!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/11) */ Nationwide Tree did have a dead branch break off and drop on neighbors fence when removing tree. The crew was going to immediately fix the damage to the fence but the neighbor told them that they wanted our insurance company to fix it. My deductible is $2500. The fence repair cost under $200 so common sense told us that the involving the insurance company would have been a moot point. The neighbor was being very rude and uncooperative with our wanting to do the repairs. It's important to note that the fence in question is in serious disrepair. The wooden post are all rooted at and below ground. Had the fence been in good shape there would have been zero damage when the limb accidentally hit it. The entire fence is rotten and should be replaced. My maintenance guy,Eric, has gone out and repaired the fence. He even replace a post that we didn't hit but it was so rotten we replaced it at our cost just so the fence could be sturdy. In all we replaced 4 post and 3 fence rails. We did have to order the chicken wire because it's green and was unavailable for immediate sale. Please see attached videos and pictures as proof of the rotten condition of the fence and the repairs we made. I'd also like to note that the repairs were made the very next day of the damage before I even had knowledge of this complaint. Thanks John Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/11/19) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) After reading the owners response, it seems he clearly has no intentions of taking responsibility for his employees or his own actions. They destroyed our fence, blamed us for it not being brand new, argued with us for hours on what repairs would be made, and then yelled at my wife when she asked for their insurance info. The Nerve. He claims it was a no-brainer and only a $200 repair, but we spent hours outside going back and forth with them on what was needed to be repaired. Initially, they wanted to replace ONE post. After arguing, two, then three, then finally the last that was affected. So no, it wasn't a simple agreement. It was several hours of going back and forth trying to get them to repair ALL the damages we incurred from the impact, hence why we wanted to just get insurance involved. Good thing I worked from home that day because I cant imagine what they would have tried to pull if I wasnt home. If they agreed to fix everything from the get-go and didnt yell at my wife I wouldnt have felt the need to complain. This is my first ever complaint on BBB. It really goes to show what kind of man he is to yell at a woman whose property he just destroyed and not so much as apologize. We were victims of negligence, and there is no other way to put it. Their guy, at one point, tried to say it would be insurance fraud if we filed! They will clearly do whatever it takes to save a couple of bucks at anyones expense. Our fence isn't new, but it was perfectly fine before they dropped a 300-lb log on it! Since he wants to put some pics up, here are plenty of videos of the negligence we witnessed that day including the impact I got on my ring camera. Branches were hitting on the customers roof and fence. Almost took out one of their own guys at one point. The logs were totally out of control 90% of the time. Im shocked they didn't do more damage. We are not accepting the response until the last part of our fence is repaired which they claim to do this monday.Initial Complaint

I hired Nationwide Tree Service to cut a tree from my yard. On Sept. 20, 2022 NTS came and cut the tree. I paid $1,200. I came home and immediately noticed that my lawn was completely destroyed as if a bulldozer went thru it. I also noticed that my concrete driveway was damaged. The concrete was broken in areas and cracked in others. It appeared a heavy duty tractor/equipment had gone over the driveway and had removed chunks of concrete as well as cracks. This was very puzzling, because NTS decided not only to go over and damage my driveway, but also damage my lawn. There was enough room access to the tree from either the lawn or the driveway. However, NTS decided to damage both, which clearly shows a lack of care for my lawn, driveway and property. I immediately contacted NTS to inform them of the damage to my driveway and lawn. The lady that answered assured me that someone would come out and access the damage the next day and they will make it right. I received a call from Eric, who informed me that he had come out and saw the damage and will be returning to fix it. I expected Eric to be a professional cement mason. But after a week of coming home and seeing the progress of the repair (which should have only taken 2 days to complete), I became concerned. One day I came home and noticed that new concrete was poured in some of the areas that were damage and other areas were not touched. The new concrete was poorly done and uneven. It was very rough at the top as if he had used his hand to try and smooth it out. It also looked as if a nail was used to create the lines. It looked terrible, messy and very unprofessionally done. I spoke with Eric and he informed me that he will come back to smooth everything out and power wash. He never returned. I spoke with Ed, who said he was the owner and he assured me that he will have it fix right. Ed gave me his personal cell #. But after calling him for over 2 weeks and leaving messages, Ed has not returned any of my calls.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/02) */ Nationwide Tree did do work for Ms ********. Unfortunately, while using our machine that was necessary for the job some newer looking concrete did get cracked. Our proposal (see attached) clearly states that Nationwide Tree will not be responsible for Lawn or pavement damage due to the fact that we have to use our equipment to complete the job. As a courtesy, we went ahead and replaced all of the concrete that they claimed we broke. My contractor noticed and pointed out to the customer that whoever put in the newer looking concrete that broke only poured the concrete 2 inches thick. No wonder it cracked. Concrete pads should never be less the 4 inches thick. Even though the concrete was done incorrectly Nationwide went ahead and replaced the concrete ( photos attached). Nationwide pour the concrete 4 inches thick the way it should have been done in the first place. Ms Nadine also tried to claim that other portions of the driveway were cracked by us as well but my contractor quickly pointed out all the dirt and debris and weeds that were growing in the cracks over the years so the customer agreed that we did not do those cracks. There are a lot of other old cracks in the entire driveway. Nationwide again as a courtesy replaced the broken concrete that we took responsibility for cracking. Again as a courtesy Nationwide will go out and put down some topsoil seed and straw in the areas where the machine damaged the grass. Thanks John Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/11/03) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I am NOT SATISFIED with Nationwide Tree Service response. As I stated previously, the handyman(Eric) that attempted to repair the damage, left areas that were damaged by Nationwide Tree Service untouched. Yes, he did initially claim that the damage was there before, until I showed him A Google Map picture that was taken just 2 months prior showing no cracks in that area where I had new concrete work done by a professional mason, not a handyman. He then claimed that he was not done yet, and would come back and smooth out the surface, power wash the area where he had concrete residue overlapping (see Photo) which looked like a complete mess. Eric clearly did not want to do the work and knew he could not do the work correctly. The work that he did do, was poorly done and looks worse than when Nationwide initially damaged it. Eric told me that he would return to fix the issues and never returned. I then called the office and spoke with Ed, who said he was the owner. He gave me his personal cell phone number and gave me his word that he would "make it right," After not hearing from Nationwide Tree for over 2 weeks, I called Ed several times and left voice and text messages. He never responded. I have had trees removed before (not by Nationwide Tree Service) and NEVER have I had this kind of damage done to my driveway and lawn. This was complete negligent and total disregard for the property. Furthermore, nowhere in the "contract" (see photo) does it states that Nationwide will not be responsible for pavement damage. Additionally, the "contract" states that Nationwide would "remove all wood and debris caused by work." I paid an additional price to have the stump, wood, and debris removed. But after calling and asking NTS when will you return to remove the big pile of grindings (see photo) that was left in my yard, Gene told me that it would be an extra charge. I asked what is that charge and he said that he would get back to me, and never did. It took hours and 20 leaf bags to remove the pile of grindings that was left by Nationwide from my yard. For a company to have on its website that they pride themselves on "unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction," this statement could not be further from the truth. Nationwide Tree Service should be ashamed of what they are doing and how they treat their customers. Nationwide Tree Service, you need to do better. I do expect you all to have my driveway repaired by a skilled mason, and not the hodgepodge mess that Eric did. That is unacceptable. Thank you Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/11/04) */ Eric went out yesterday 11-03-2022 and put down topsoil seed and straw where the loader tore up the grass. Eric walked the property with a male that was there not sure if it was the husband or the son and was completely satisfied. The male also said don't worry about her she's crazy. His words not ours. And as highlighted on the documents outlining Terms, Conditions and definitions on the back of the hand written ticket and also included on any emailed estimates it clearly states Nationwide Tree Service will NOT be responsible for Lawn or Pavement. Even though our contract states this we as a courtesy in attempt to make our customer happy repaired the concrete and the driveway. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/11/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) WOW! Can't believe this company is now resorting to blatant lies to get out of repairing the damage that they've caused. No one at that house said any of the things that you mentioned and you know it. Even Eric himself indicated that he never said those things. This is just a mere tactic by Nationwide Tree Service to deflect from the facts. The facts are the facts. Nationwide Tree Service caused unnecessary damage to my driveway, sent a handyman, who was not a skilled mason, and did a poor job in an attempt to repair the damage, and Nationwide is now refusing to properly repair it. I have provided photographs to support everything that I have claimed. You don't claim to have repaired the damage out of "courtesy" and now it looks worse than when it was initially damaged. So please stop claiming that you repaired the damage. The work is unsatisfactory. As I mentioned previously, I have had several trees removed in the past with other companies and never had damage done, so I know that it can be done with the proper equipment. This was a complete disregard for the property. I stand on my claim and I am steadfast in my position...I would like Nationwide Tree Service to repair the damaged done to my driveway by a skilled cement mason. Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2022/11/09) */ I've sent documents showing company policy on yard and pavement damage. I've repaired the concrete and the yard. Our concrete repair was done to code at 4 inches. The concrete that was cracked that we repaired was not done correctly. It was 2 inches thick not 4 inches like it was supposed to be and in some spots it was as little as one inch. Nationwide repaired the property in good faith. Nationwide is no longer interested in debating the issue.Initial Complaint

On 8/8/22, Nationwide Tree Service removed a pine tree from our backyard. During that process, part of the tree dropped on one of our sheds in the backyard and damaged it. They had a representative, Eric A*******, call us to discern whether to try to fix the shed or replace it. We said they could try to fix it. Mr. A******* determined he could not find the parts because the shed was too old. It was then determined to replace the old shed that was sitting in on an 8x8 wood platform. They proceeded to replace the shed the week of 9/19/22 - 9/23/22. We did not realize until after they had finished and left that they installed an 8x6 shed and never told us they were not replacing the size shed that was damaged. We researched and found that ********** had an 8x8 shed in the same name brand as the 8x6 for less than $200 more. Also the items from the shed were not replaced because they no longer fit in the smaller shed. The contractor did not clean up after himself, leaving the box from the new shed and then hid parts from the old shed behind the new shed instead of carrying them away. He also left a mess of spilled paint in our driveway that had fallen from his truck and he proceeded to track it on our driveway and our deck. There was no need for paint involved in our project, so we don't know why he had brought to our project. At the very least, we should have been told about the smaller shed and given the chance to agree or disagree. We would have disagreed. We believe we should be compensated for the difference in the sheds and the company notified of the lack of professionalism of their staff.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/10/04) */ Nationwide did accidentally damage the shed when removing the large Pine tree. The shed was so old that we couldn't get parts for it. We let the customer know and told them we could remove old shed and replace it with a new shed. Eric arrived with the new shed and drew an outline where the old shed was showing the customer the size of the new shed. The customer said that the new shed was perfect and Eric built and installed the new shed. Eric put all of the property from the old shed in the new shed. When Eric was finished building the new shed and put everything inside the customer came out and looked and said nice job and gave Eric a $75 tip. Eric removed everything from the old shed and did leave the cardboard box at the husband's request. Eric never parked in the customers driveway and did. It have any paint on his truck. Eric called to ask the customer what she was talking about and she said if you didn't do it then I don't know who did. The customer also said that we shouldn't have talked to her husband because he has dementia. She never once told us her husband had dementia so how would we have know that. We did everything right by the customer to make them whole and we're told by them that they were satisfied when we left, hence, the $75 tip to Eric so we are shocked by this complaint. Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/10/04) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) There are several lies here. I did not say my husband had dementia. Also, on the last day Eric was here he did park in the driveway because I stood in the garage and asked him if he was going to take the box away from the shed. The box was laying behind my husbands truck on the driveway. He said he didn't have room for the box in his truck and indicated we would have to get rid of it. I did give him a $50 tip - not $75, because that is something we always do when some one does a service for us. He never offered to show us his final work. He did not return everything to the shed because everything wouldn't fit - such as all the cushions from our lawn furniture, which were setting in the deck waiting to be put back. It wasn't until after he left that I discovered the smaller size shed and the metal from the old shed stacked behind the new shed. Needless to say we aren't in agreement with everything that has been said. It's obvious to us that Nationwide does not want to settle this. So please leave it on the books as unresolved.Initial Complaint

On 7/6/2022, Nationwide Tree Service was cutting 2 massive pine trees in our neighbor's yard. They stood on our property and cut the trees without taking our permission; they let all the branches fall on our trees and in our beds. They completely destroyed our 30-40 year old Dogwood tree, 3 year old Crepe Myrtle, and several plants in our beds. We asked them to not be on our property, and requested them several times to be respectful of our plants, but they paid no attention and continued dropping the branches in our yard, and backing the bulldozer into our tree and plants. Nationwide Tree Service removed some trees from my yard on April 16th 2021 and in doing so damaged six healthy trees. Ed O******** and myself signed a document that stated there were six damaged trees and that his company would remove those trees if any died. Three trees have already died, one last year and two this April. Ed took down the one last year but one of the two trees that died this year he refuses to remove! I have this signed document and he refuses to honor it. He is not honoring his contract, so I am making this report to you.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2022/05/31) */ Nationwide Tree Service did do some tree work for the above mentioned customer. When the tree was being removed there was some minor bark damage on several trees. Ed did give a letter stating if the trees died we would remove them at no cost. The job was done April 2021. Shortly after the damage one tree the was damaged a lot more then the others did die and we did remove that tree at no charge. All other trees thrived through the summer and fall. Now over a year later the customer says 2 more trees died. One is small and has no signs of bug infestation or disease. We have no problem removing that tree if the customer would like us to. The large tree has signs of bug infestation and the entire trunk is hollow and has been for alot of years. That's a very large tree and will take an entire day to remove it. If it showed no other signs of decline I would be happy to remove it. Any reasonable person would.know that the small bark damaged that occurred will removing the other tree is not the cause of this tree dying. That tree has been in serious decline for years. If the customer would like to have that tree removed I would be happy to do at at a discounted rate. Thanks John O******** Owner Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/06/01) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The tree Ed is describing was in fact damaged by the trees he removed in 2021 as stated by Ed. Ed took pictures of all the trees damaged. This particular tree Ed did not point out any signs of bug infestation nor a hollow trunk. When it was time to fulfil his legal obligation as stated by the signed attached document, Ed now tells me of these other caveats in order to remove blame from his expert tree people so he does not have to remove the tree. Apparently the tree is to big and will take to much time to remove and honor his signed document. The bottom line is if Ed would have dropped the initial tress proper the way we agreed on, no other trees would have been damaged. Each of the initial trees should have been dropped in pieces to protect our septic field, as well as the other trees in our yard and definitely not dropped in the middle of our street to block the only way in and out of our multifamily neighborhood. He damaged the tree by his own admission and should be a man of his word and remove the tree and restore the honesty and integrity of Nationwide Tree Service!
