This service is extremely unreliable. Over the years we have had weeks of time with no service and pickup of our trash. Both myself and my spouse have put in calls and complaints with the company to no avail. The service will resume for a length of time then will stop for a week or a few weeks . This has just happened again this past Tuesday 12/03/2024 and I emailed the company to no avail and called them when I got home , the customer service *** for the company said I dont know what to tell you . For a service that costs over $600 a year the spotty service is completely unacceptable. The service to resolve issues is non existent. The company makes up arbitrary times for pickup misses with the excuse the driver didnt see it. Once I could see happening, multiple times is a pattern along with the fact that other residents on the same road get the same service issues at the same time. Im genuinely disappointed with the company and am highly considering seeking ***resentation for breech of contract on their end.Business Response

This customer sent us an email as of ****** on **/3/24. Our offices close at 5pm, so we didn't get his email until 8am on 12/4/24 in which he was ***lied to at 8:42am on 12/4/24. The customer service *** emailed and stated the as of 4:08am the container was not out on 12/3/24. Our policy states that the container must be out the night prior to ensure pick up; due to our trucks being in the area earlier then normal. The customers account does not show any issues since 1/25/22 other than the one time we had to reach out because his payment was late on 5/7/24. This customer is not in a signed contract. He does have a service order in for his next pick up on 12/10/24 to take all extra trash due to him missing his pick up on 12/3/24 due to his container not being out when our gentlemen were there to collect his trash at 4:08am. The rate of his service is due to his location and landfill cost in the area. We have taken all measures from the office stand point to ensure this doesn't happen again. When i got my up coming bill for the month of jan/feb/march it is ****** when I was paying ***** for months when I called and asked why they said they don't price match no more I said when it come time to pay again I will be canceling two day later the cam and picked my can up it is only Nov I am paid already tile end of Dec when called and asked why they took can they said would bring one back I waited so the 1 hr went by I called back they said someone on ther way I keep calling I keep getting same answer last time I called they said there they talked to dispatchand they said one would be out tonight we'll one never came out they lied I want my money back this is crazyBusiness Response

Our representative was under the impression that when you stated you didn't want to pay that you wanted to cancel. We do apologize for then inconvenience. She did however see her mistake and put in a workorder on 11/22/24. Those work orders do take 2-3 business days to complete. I spoke with dispatch and he stated that todays delivery truck was full but it is on the truck list for tomorrow 11/26/24. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the rising cost in the area. The landfill increase was the biggest hit that we have seen thus far. We had no choice but to stop price matches and raise out rates to ensure that we could still use the landfill to dump your trash. I have weekly trash pickup from this company. I sit my cans off to the side or the driveway for pickup. When they pickup they leave the empty cans and lids laying on the driveway in the traffic portion. Ive called 3 different times and complained and also sent picturesBusiness Response

I have requested to end my contract with them because they are not doing a good job and have damaged my property, left trash all over the yard, and have to be called to move the dumpster back on to my property. Mr. ****** is in a sign contract. It is a yearly contract and rolls over yearly. It was set to renew 3/1/24 signed by Mr. ****** on 4/14/23. He did not give any notice to cancel. Nor has he called the office to express his concerns so we could fix them. He did state that he has personally talked to the gentleman that dump his yarder but has never called the office. In order for any issues to be resolved he would need to communicate that with the office staff. I have attached his contract to this report. He is in a contract until 3/1/25.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:i am a 100%disabled veteran on a fixed income. They are treating my account as they would a business account. This is a private home not a business. If I had standard trash cans this would not be an issue but because I have a large enough family to need a dumpster they are qualifying my as a business and by doing so forced me into signing a 1 year contract Or i could not get a dumpster. Because of my disability I cannot drag trash cans to the road. I asked if they could just drive down the driveway to pick up the cans and they said they can’t do that. So I got the dumpster so they can dump it. I just want out of this contract so that we can use a far superior company that offers better pricing and service

I am rejecting this response because:these are unrealistic expectations of the contract for a residential customer. The fact that this business does not have an option for a dumpster for a personal residence is nothing I have the power to do anything about. What would your terms be if I was a residential customer with trash cans? What would your cancellation policy be at that point in time because that is what I should be held to and that is a month to month contract which is all I’m looking to do is cancel my contract before it starts, and since the new contract has not started, just because your computer program automatically renewed my contract doesn’t mean that I wanted my contract renewed and while I did not give you 60 days notice ahead of time. The new contract is not active yet and I would like to cancel it. The previous contract was not signed until April 14 which means the new contract is not in effect regardless of the 60 day termination policy. I am looking to terminate my contract now. Because I don’t want to deal with a bad company I was desperate for trash service when I started this contract. After a year of dealing with this company, I do not wish to deal with it any longer please end my contract as stated before I am a disabled veteran on 100% disability which is a fixed income if I need to reach out to the department of Veterans Affairs for assistance I will. The department of Veterans Affairs has a black list of businesses that are not friendly to veterans. I believe that this business is one of them and I may need to reach out to them and advise them of such.

On January 19, 2024, Chesapeake Waste of Salisbury, Maryland was supposed to pick up our trash according to our contract and did not show or call. We pay $91.45 per quarter for trash removal and a fuel surcharge. $91.45 divided by 13 = $7.04. Our bill should be adjusted by $7.04 since they missed a pickup on January 19, 2024. No one's trash in our entire neighborhood of 72 homes was picked up that day with no phone call from Chesapeake Waste.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: We have a paid contract for WEEKLY pickup every Friday for 13 weeks, which was missed. Under your response, you think it is OK to miss weekly pickups as long as you get it sometime later. You are not allowed to charge for 13 pickups and only pickup 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 times per 3 months. That is NOT what we contracted for. We paid for 13 pickups and did not get one. Under your logic, you could charge for 13 weeks and only pick once. That is unacceptable. We should not have to pay for a pickup that we did not get.

They breach their own contract which states they are to pick up our trash once a week. They haven’t picked up our trash since Nov 10th. This is an ongoing issue with this company and they claim to have no record of any calls or complaints. They state they can not come get their can because we are in a binding contract until August 2024. They emailed a contract over to us and there is no signature on the contract. Good Morning, after looking at the account there has been no notes on the account that has been a miss pick up. When we received a phone call for miss pick up and we advise that we are going to place a work order the system automatically notates that account. The last phone call be received is from 2/9/23 for a paid extra pick up. I do see a note from 12/5/23 and 12/6/23. The lady that took the phone call did put in a service order to make sure the entire yarder is dumped. I will notate for her to do them work orders for the next few weeks to make sure this doesn't happen again.

****** ****** **** has had Chesapeake Waste as its trash removal for 4 years. For the first 3 years, things were mostly fine. In the last year, the consistency of pickup has deteriorated. They would not pick up and then when we called, they would tell us there was someone in front of the dumpster. I told them multiple times that delivery trucks park by our back door and that they are usually only there for at most 10 minutes. I told them they would be welcome to ask the drivers to move their trucks, (and I know they would) or to call the store and we would ask them to move. At first, this suggestion seemed to work. Then, they skipped us and said that they had a picture of our dumpster with a vehicle in front of it. They asked me to send a picture of the dumpster and I did. Then they asked if it had wheels, cuz the picture they had had wheels. Our dumpster has NEVER had wheels...Since July of this year (2023) I have had to call about missed pickups NINE times. The one with the wrong picture was only 1 of the times. Then they started saying they had to charge $65 for a re-pickup or whatever it is called. That has now happened twice..The customer service is non-existant. I have asked to speak with the owner and have been informed that they have not been in the office since April. Good Afternoon, we have recently tried to reach out to you (11/20/23)as we have come up with solutions to the issue of the ***** and **** truck blocking the yarder. But we have not heard back. Please note that our guys did ask the **** driver to please let us through the other morning much to our surprise we were caught with a "I was here first we aren't moving" this has also happened in the past that is why we started taking photos and moving on. Our dispatcher did send another truck out there that same day to get the yarder dumped for you out of courtesy. Please note the contract that was sent to you does note the yarder does need to be fully accessible to us on pick up days. I understand that this issue is frustrating but you are in a signed contract and we have given you the options of how to terminate such contract. On February 8 I called Chesapeake Waste to get an estimate for a dumpster on my property. I was informed there was a one-year contract required, given a price quote, told a contract would be mailed and asked to give a credit card # to open an account. On February 10 I was charged 1 month's payment to Chesapeake Waster for $115.39. At the time I had called 2 other companies to get quotes and decided to go with another provider, who has already placed a dumpster on my property. I called Chesapeake Waste on February 17 to request the S115.39 be refunded and the employee stated I had verbally agreed to the contract and would have to pay the full year's service to break the contract. To date, I have not returned a signed contract nor do I have a dumpster from Chesapeake Waste on my property. When I stated I had gone with another company and that I had not returned a signed contract, the employee stated it didn't matter since they didn't receive contracts back, so that is why they just took a verbal agreement over the phone. I also stated that I had not been informed that have a contract mailed to me, or giving my credit card was making a verbal agreement. The employee stated that information was in the contract. I simply stated that I did not have the contract at the time, and had not signed it, and that the contract was not read to me to constitute a verbal agreement. I cancelled my prepaid trash pickup on May 24th. I've contacted this business repeatedly via phone and Facebook messenger. This business bills 3 months in advance. I cancelled before the next several months service term. I've been lied to repeatedly with regards to my refund. The person in charge of refunds is always unavailable, at lunch, or will get back to me. Not once have they tried to contact me back. Nor have they followed through with their promises of it'll be 2 weeks, I've heard that at least 3 time now. I'm asking for the prepaid balance to be refunded to me. It's not their money, and they have no right to continue to withhold it from me.Business Response

It would have most certainly gotten here had the correct mailing address been used. They could have emailed or called me to advise the mail was returned. Instead they chose to ignore me and not help resolve the issue. They can send my refund to me at the correct mailing address. After I receive it, I will consider the matter closed.
