I purchased a travel trailer last year. It was inspected and sticker'ed by the Pennsylvania dealer that sold me the unit, a division of Beckley's. I recently took it to my local travel trailer inspector, who removed the hubs to inspect the brakes, and found that the previous inspector (Beckley's) had not re-assembled the hub properly resulting not just in expensive damage, and that I had been pulling an unsafe trailer that could have resulted in injury or death. I have not removed the tires since I purchased the vehicle. I am now paying to repair the damage caused by the faulty re-assembly (sealed bearings, etc), since the dealer has not yet returned my calls, emails, and texts. I did complain to AG of Pennsylvania and the response from the dealer was that they were not willing to mediate, and further insinuated that because we had a negotiation fall through at a prior time that this was some sort of retribution on my part. Also, their narrative was incorrect. By the time their faulty inspection practice was discovered, I'd left that whole conversation behind. I am *very* concerned that the dealer who inspected the vehicle was either unqualified, distracted, or uncertified. Or perhaps they just didn’t do the inspection and placed a sticker on it without removing the hubs themselves as would be required during inspection. I do have pictures from this year’s attempted inspection that clearly shows how the nut was placed in reverse, did not have the clip reinstalled, and which (unbeknownst to me) caused the he 4,000 pound trailer wheel to wobble dangerously as it was being towed. The other hub, oddly, had been re-installed properly. I am paying out of pocket for the damage they caused. I offered them the opportunity to just take repossession of the rig, but the demurred. This is their right and not my complaint. I want to be refunded for the cost of the repair.Business Response

On 08/22/2022 ***** ******* purchased a 2019 Airstream Nest travel trailer from our dealership (Beckley’s RVs) in New Oxford, Pa. In part of preparing the trailer for pick up is a
Pennsylvania State Inspection. This was completed and passed in September of 2022. Ms.
******* came to the dealership on 09/02//2022 to take delivery of the Airstream Nest. She was greeted by her sales associate and was given a complete walk through of the camper, going over all the switches, appliances, water systems, heat and A/C systems, lights and electronics.
Also, how to operate everything and maintain the trailer. After completion of the walk through,
she then was shown how to connect and disconnect the trailer safely. The last part of her
journey is to go for a test drive to be sure everything is in perfect operating order.
On August 17th of 2023 Ms. ******* contacted her sales associate at Beckley’s RV’s to ask if we would be interested in trading the nest in for a truck camper because of a back injury. Later on the 17th, she then asked us to buy it back rather than trading. On 08/21/2023 we made her
an offer and she turned it down asking for more than we offered. This negotiation went on for
several days. We gave Ms. ******* our final offer. She received our offer however didn’t get back to us until September 08, 2023. During this timeframe the NADA “book value” on her trade
had dropped approximately $1700, so we had told her we needed to adjust our offer to meet new market value. On 08/30/2023, Ms. ******* was not at all pleased with this decision and actually posted a very negative review to our social media platform.
According to a forwarded email from Ms. *******, on 09/18/2023 the service department of Kelly RV sent Ms. ******* an email regarding the sealed wheel bearings on her trailer. They
attached pictures and stated that the spindle nut was installed incorrectly as well as missing a snap ring. Ms. ******* then forwarded this email to her sales associate on 09/19/2023 asking to be compensated for the entire amount they were asking to fix it. She then stated if we were to
buy it back, she would sign a release and consider the matter closed. (Interesting)!
Ms. ******* has had this trailer in her possession using it for an unknown number of trips for approximately one year. We don’t believe that Beckley’s RVs is at any fault as we are unsure how the trailer was used, how many times it could have been serviced by others, as well as the one-year time frame to which this is brought to our attention. Then there is for her to be willing to
forget the matter if we were to purchase the trailer back. Ms. ******* stated to you her 4000-pound trailer wheel wobbled due to a nut being reversed and a missing clip. If this was in fact, Ms. ******* would have noticed this “wobble” well within a year. Most likely she and her sales
person would have noticed it on the test tow, especially on a single axle, two-wheel trailer.
Sincerely,
Patrick ******Beckley's RV's

I am rejecting this response because it is disrespectful and inconsiderate. The business owner makes remarks that imply I’m trying to rip off Beckley. It’s ridiculous, inaccurate, and very smarmy. After I was unable to sell it back (and yes, I have a back injury, but hardly a reason to insult me), I actually worked to trade it on another RV ***after*** the error was found on the inspection damage likely caused by Beckley.. Unfortunately, the rig listed hold been sold a week earlier. As for the sales guy recognizing the problem on the drive? Well, it was making rubbing noises and he said that was normal and probably the sway bar. Interesting (!). I will sign an affidavit that swears I have not had the RV serviced since it was inspected. But how silly, I just want the replacement t sealed bearings to be paid for by Beckley.
Sincerely,

These sentences were copied from Ms. *******'s email to her sales person 9/19/23.
"I’m going to have to ask Beckley to pay for the full extent of the repairs needed to make it road worthy again (it currently is not) or buy it from me outright"
"If you buy it back, I will sign a release and consider our business on this matter closed."
You decide if this ultimatum is rediculous, inaccurate, or smarmy.
Facts: The trailer was a pre-owned model that was purchased September 2nd 2022 and came with a 90 day limited warranty.
Beckleys RVs is not liable for or entitled to reimburse customers for repairs made to pre-owned vehicles that are nine months beyond warranty expiration and/or completed at any service center of their choice, regardless of the demand.

I am rejecting this response because the respondent keeps cherry picking messages that cast an inaccurate perspective on the issue and which malign me personally.
Mr. Arlington (the other person in the chat I'm attaching) was trying to do an impossible job in helping me, and I hold him entirely blameless! He's wonderful. I was just trying to be helpful and provide options, and as the ENTIRE chat I've attached will show, I was TRYING to buy another RV from Beckley's, even AFTER they decided not to purchase my unit prior. The idea that I would consider the issue closed if they bought it back was merely me trying to demonstrate that I am not trying to jack them up over my repair issue with the unit--did they want to take it, fix it and resell it, or was I going to do it? (see: Fri, Sep 8 at 10:57 AM). We had been in conversation for WEEKS on another purpose, and the problems with inspection came up later. I was trying to close all the conversations when that ask was raised, including not being able to trade it because there were no alternative units available. Beckley was willing to take it back as a trade, but then all of a sudden they weren't. What the heck with these personal attacks? My goodness.
Please read the entire chat session. I have nothing at all to hide here. Beckley is casting aspersions on my character and that just proves they don't stand behind their products. Personal attacks are not focusing on fixing the problems.
I'd like Beckley to make it right based on the fact that they made a mistake in the inspection process by installing a nut on backwards and costing me to fix it. It wasn't found for a year because the wheels had never been OFF. I will provide an affidavit swearing to that fact under oath. Please reimburse me for the repairs.
Sincerely,
***** *******
