My daughter enrolled in Fortis institute in Towson md in 2021. They gave her false information as far as her school loan, externship, and education! They told her she didn't have to pay anything until 6 months after she completed the course. Now that she is basically done they told her that she owes them $500 in order to graduate. My daughter is 21 and is working a full time job while going to school. Which brings me to the externship, the director of the medical assistance program/externship coordinator told her they WILL be able to help her find an externship that will coincide with her work hours. Now that the time is here they basically told her to choose her lively hood or the externship. I am a very issed off parent whom is tired of her daughter calling her crying over this school. These days NOONE can afford to just quit a job with no guarantee of employment when bills are high. She has a great job right now with benefits. Fortis was supposed to help, not discourage. This is causing extreme depression and confusion and is severely affecting her health. If she does not complete the externship due to not finding placement that can accommodate her work hours she will have to pay all of that money for nothing. I have seen MANY COMPLAINTS about this, something needs to be done. The teaching is horrible. They went through so many teachers because they were quitting frequently. My daughter had no choice but to educate herself throughout the whole course and she passed every class. She shouldn't have to suffer because Fortis is not genuine with keeping their promises. Something TRULY NEEDS TO BE DONE. I think it is so wrong that Fortis is taking all of this money from hard working individuals who commit and do the work and that are only trying to contribute to society. If you cannot help, PLEASE point me in the right direction to someone who can actually do something for these individuals! Fortis is a disgrace to people trying to build a better life for themselves.

      Mr. ***************

Sorry I did not get back to you today. We tried to research this complaint, but we could not identify the student in question. If we were to be able to identify the student, we would need to reach out to the student and get her to sign off on a FERPA(Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Waiver before we could respond to the mother's complaint. If you can provide the student's full name, it would allow us to research and contact the student to submit a waiver.
