Beware of Aspen Dental in ********* Maine. A family member needed a crown. Knowing the price of crowns is generally around $1300 we did some research and bought a discount plan called ********** 500. The information on the website and what they sent us in the mail, said crowns would be 48% off or exactly $700 and that Aspen Dental had a contract with them. We confirmed with the person at the front desk at Aspen that they took our plan. The first visit for preparing the tooth was around $300 ( I don't know where that bill is so don't know if there was a discount applied) ) The second visit was for the new crown. The bill was $1279 including a $275 discount. Long story short the dentist put on a type of crown other than one of the advertised 48% off types. ( there are several choices) They used a billing code number that was different from all the codes and prices we were given from the ********** discount plan we bought. The dentist choose for us a crown that was only 20% off an already over priced crown. Our total price was about $1400. This definitely feels like a bait and switch. If you have to go there, read reviews online, get a quote in writing, don't let them add extras, don't pre pay for anything, don't let them sell you products that you can get cheaper somewhere else. They are all about their bottom line. Sleazy, sleazy sleazy.
